The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning company business objectives with employees and management in their assigned areas of responsibility. The HRBP serves as a consultant for management on human resources-related issues.

A successful candidate acts as a change agent by assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and, in partnership with and direction from the VP of HR, implementing HR strategies. The HRBP proactively communicates needs to HR and business management. The HRBP supports strategic planning and implementation of HR initiatives including performance management, open enrollment, incentives, appreciation, as well as recruitment and retention strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Foster an environment of professionalism within areas of responsibility by providing information, resources, and guidance to staff at all levels

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information regarding the company and its employees

Meet and communicate with respective department heads/managers as needed; consult with division management to provide HR related guidance when appropriate

Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations, escalating issues to VP of HR when needed and as appropriate

Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR department to develop solutions, programs, and policies

Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to daily management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation

Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

Analyze available HR data, look for hiring and retention trends; offer solutions to retain employees

Identify training needs; partner with division trainers to create and implement training programs

Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs, following-up to ensure training objectives are met

Provide guidance for managers regarding performance management process to ensuring the planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work is consistent and accurate; oversee calendar of employee performance reviews, communicate and follow up on completion dates and deadlines

Partner with the HR Generalist regarding benefits, LOAs, and other HR programs

Travel to local and remote locations regularly and as needed

All other tasks and job duties as assigned



College degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent field, or combination of education and experience required


Minimum of 4-6 years experience resolving complex employee relation issues

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Management

Required Skills & Experience

At least four years of progressive experience across HR disciplines including employment law, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, and conflict resolution

Excellent influential, collaborative, and relationship building skills

High-level attention to detail

Preferred Skills & Experience

PHR, SPHR, and/or SHRM certification

Retail, operations, and/or sales experience a plus

Manufacturing experience a plus

Excellent computer, language, and reasoning skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with a shifting workload in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of Colorado marijuana laws, MED regulations, and CDPHE requirements; Previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in CO licensed facilities

Cannabis industry experience preferred

Must be able to individually lift up to 25 lbs.

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time

Work Requirements

Must be able to work in an office environment with moderate to loud noise level

Must be able to acquire MED Support badge ($75 Fee to State of CO) prior to beginning employment

Travel Requirements

Frequently requires local travel (average 80% travel/20% office)
