As an integral part of a business unit's leadership team, you will play a vital role providing full spectrum human resources consultation, partnering closely with management to solve organizational challenges through people-related solutions. You will be responsible for creating and implementing the end-to-end human capital strategy to support the business in meeting its goals. This role requires strategic reasoning and thinking, using data analytics to identify opportunities and make decisions, challenging convention to inspire best practices, and influencing leaders on human capital matters. You will partner with a cross-functional group of Human Resources experts within our centers of expertise to define, design, and execute your strategy for how your business unit conducts workforce planning, attraction, onboarding, engagement, talent development, and retention initiatives in a manner that reflect the laboratories commitment to exceptional service in the national interest.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Leverage a deep understanding of the business strategy to provide expert insight and leadership into organizational effectiveness and talent planning and development.
Coach business leaders on leading and managing through times of change or difficult employee matters.
Act as a change agent to the business and designs processes and approaches to prepare the organization for ongoing change and transformation.
Provide problem solving consultation to management and employees on a wide variety of complex employee relations issues.
Partner with line organizations to help define talent needs and workforce plans and work with management to develop workforce and recruiting strategies that effectively acquire or align talent.
Drive the department's talent agenda for ensuring thoughtful assessment, people development, and succession planning.
Guide management in annual performance and compensation programs.
Provide human resources project leadership on significant business events within the company, division, center, or group.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively drive the design, implementation, communication, management and enhancement of human resources programs and initiatives.
Identify, recommend and design new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the department and in services performed.
Champion diversity and inclusion.
Utilize workforce analytics to empower business leaders to make data enabled decisions by presenting workforce risks, analyzing workforce trends, and identifying future opportunities.
Qualifications We Require
Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or other closely related field plus 5 years of direct professional (exempt) HR experience.
Broad knowledge of a variety of human resources disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, facilitate, present, communicate, develop processes, and analyze and solve problems.
Specialized knowledge of human resources theories, principles, and practices; understanding of human resources as an interrelated system of functional operations; and a strong understanding of federal and state labor laws, industry best practices.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
Strong planning and project management skills.
Strong analytical skills and proven competence in resolving simple and complex human resources and organizational issues.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience preparing and presenting effective verbal and written reports.
Demonstrated ability to identify recurring issues and to develop solutions to resolve those issues.
Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities in both strategic and day-to-day service delivery.
Current DOE security clearance.
