Our Opportunity:

Chewy is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Business Partner at our Charlotte, NC fulfillment center. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing a Fulfillment Center Human Resources department. What you'll do:

  • Lead team responsible for performance management, employee engagement and talent development

  • Assist management staff in resolution of issues and concerns

  • Assists with training as needed by training team; owns orientation and onboarding

  • Facilitate compensation programs. Implement compensation plans supported by the research of local market data for positions, evaluate job levels to ensure compensation programs remain competitive

  • Administer workers compensation program: investigate all injuries, first aid and near misses, and work with plant management to reduce all three

  • Recommend/administer discipline when warranted. Assist supervisors/fulfillment center management with disciplinary issues

  • Handle benefits administration

  • Develop/update job descriptions, rules, procedures and policies

  • Participate in facility safety and meetings, including, but not limited to, safety committee meetings and accident investigations

What you'll need:

  • BA/BS required (Business Administration, Human Resources or related study preferred. Experience in a similar warehouse environment or a combination of education-training and experience will be considered

  • 5 plus years in an HR partnership role ideally within a fulfillment or distribution center or busy work environment with proven track record of success

  • 2-3 years experience managing a HR Team

  • Proven record of strategic partnerships which enhance the HR experience

  • Excellent written, verbal, public presentation /communication skills and strong interpersonal skills required

  • Able to work effectively with a wide range of personnel

  • Strong employee relations background

  • Position may require travel

Duties And Responsibilities * Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units to understand the people needs and partner to solve concerns quickly and effectively. * Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with business leaders to develop solutions to people strategy gaps. * Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations for escalated concerns. * Provides human resource functional service to the customer(s). Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. * Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (i.e., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). * Support Performance Management program including performance and merit administration. * Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. * Train and guide team members on career development program. * Provides recommendations on training needs based on identification of skills gaps in business unit(s). * Assists other Store Support teams in implementing HR related projects, programs, and other related activities. * Covers all stores in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia. Required Skills * PHR and/or SPHR certification or SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP a plus. * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. * Ability to travel 50% of the time (with little to no notice). * Familiarity with HRIS systems, preferably Dayforce. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Solid business acumen, consultation and relationship management skills. Education And Experience * Five (5) years prior HR generalist experience in retail or similar industry. * Bachelor's Degree and relevant industry experience.
