We are seeking a personable, experienced human resources business partner to join our growing organization. In this position, you will be the primary point of contact for the Pax River Business Unit on all human resources related issues. You should be a proactive communicator and change agent, someone who can successfully balance employee needs with business objectives to create integrated solutions.

Human Resources Business Partner Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as main point of contact for all business unit employees

  • Serve as a resource for employees, managers and leaders; Responsible for resolving employees' questions either directly or indirectly

  • Lead, as primary POC, all Business Unit employee relations issues; conduct thorough investigations and be able to make recommendations to leadership as necessary and appropriate

  • Consult and coach regularly with management and provide guidance when appropriate

  • Work with managers to address performance issues timely and efficiently

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the human resources department to develop policies, programs, and solutions

  • Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions

  • Find ways to build morale, improve workplace relationships, and boost productivity and retention

  • Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; collaborate with the legal department when necessary

  • Interpret human resources policy

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field

  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in human resources

  • Strong employee relations experience conducting investigations; collaborating with leadership and legal on sensitive employee matters

  • Current, in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee management, including workers' compensation, union relations, and federal and state employment laws

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels within the organization

  • Ability to:

  • Collaborate with colleagues, employees, managers and leaders

  • Exercise judgement and discretion but knows when to escalate and ask for assistance

  • Work independently and be a contributing and positive part of the HR team
