Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Community College has been equipping students, alumni, and employees with the knowledge and experience to transform themselves, the community, and the world for over 55 years. Position will support various aspects of college HR function; including, but not limited to:

  • Administers onboarding process for new hires (i.e. ensuring accuracy of new employee set-ups, communicating with employees throughout the onboarding process, ensuring required forms are completed timely, providing assistance with electronic onboarding system, etc.)

  • Administers offboarding process for terminating employees

  • I-9 management/coordination

  • Maintains electronic files (recruitment, payroll, personnel, medical, educational assistance, etc.)

  • Designated Agency Service Award Coordinator

  • Administers motor vehicle records process

  • Assists with mandatory trainings for new hires and existing employees

  • Assists employees with change requests (i.e. changes of address, name, direct deposit, tax withholdings, etc.)

  • Monitors and responds to inquiries sent to general HR email inboxes

  • Provides administrative support to other specialized areas of HR (benefits, payroll, leave, recruitment)

  • Trains to be a Search Advocate to serve on college Search Committees

  • Ensures offices supplies are stocked and readily available

  • Delivers, retrieves, and distributes HR mail

  • Assists with other human resources duties and functions as assigned

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and perform complex and detail-oriented duties, while meeting established project deadlines

  • Ability to work with and support employees at all levels, related to all aspects of Human Resources

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience using Word, Excel or related software

  • With access to confidential and sensitive information, must have the ability to maintain strict confidentially

Additional Considerations

  • Prior administrative support experience, especially in Human Resources

  • Prior administrative support experience in education and/or a state agency

  • Experience using Google Docs, SharePoint, intranet, human resource management software, or similar systems
