University Village is currently hiring a part-time Human Resources Assistant. At least 24 hours per week, with the possibility of going full time in the future. Schedule can be flexible.

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for helping with Recruitment, New Hire, and Termination processing including HR systems and files. Able to field general employee questions/concerns. Works closely in collaboration with Human Resources Director and Representative to ensure prompt and quality services to employees and to handle special projects as assigned.


  • Helps with the recruitment process which includes: communicating with hiring managers to understand department needs, point person on Applicant Tracking System/provides training to hiring manages, creating job postings/ads, posting jobs/managing Careers website, screening/distributing applications to hiring managers, assisting with interviews and phone screens as necessary, conducting reference checks, creating/communicating offer packet (with input from hiring manager and Dir HR as necessary), coordinating completion and clearance of pre-employment requirements, etc.

  • Assists in new hire orientation attendance by new employees, updates agenda, coordinates internal speakers and orientation paperwork/materials, and assists with presentation of information to new employees.

  • Assists in creating employee files and ensures paperwork completed meets compliance/licensing requirements. Continuous follow up.

  • Keeps employee records up-to date both manually and in our HR/LMS systems including: payroll changes, address changes, new hire input, termination input, benefits enrollment, pre-employment paperwork tracking, licenses/certifications tracking, new hire training, etc.

  • Fields employee/supervisor questions and concerns.

  • Completes employment verifications, responds to unemployment claims, and assists with workers comp paperwork.

  • Create, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools (ie: ADP, Relias Learning).

  • Conducts Exit Interviews

  • Handles special projects / other tasks as assigned.


  • High school graduate required. College degree in business, human resources or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in Human Resources.

  • Must be able to handle dealing with confidential information.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English and perform basic arithmetic. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees.

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at one time.

  • Must have intermediate level experience with computers, internet, email, calendars, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Publisher.

FBI and DOJ criminal record clearance.
