The Human Resources Assistant (Rec/Plac/OA) provides a variety of clerical and administrative support to the Recruitment and Benefits sections in the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) and the Edward Hines Jr. VA Medical Center.

Serve as the point of contact (POC) to applicants on application procedures, qualification requirements, and referral procedures.
Facilitate on-boarding process of new appointees.
Schedule pre-employment physicals and prepare pre-employment packets of forms and documents.
Maintain the local position description (PD) classification SharePoint library to ensure library is up to date with current PDs.
Perform assignments in support of HR employment background investigation functions.
Collect, compile and track data and statistical information in support of the security program.
Perform administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the electronic questionnaire for investigations processing (e-QIP).
Act as backup to the primary fingerprinting staff, obtaining fingerprints using the electronic fingerprint equipment.
Perform administrative tasks associated with the authorization and issuance of the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards.
Establish and maintain the without compensation (WOC) folders and database.
Type letters, reports, tabulated materials, memoranda, etc. in either rough draft or final form.
Perform administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting web-based automated systems.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
