Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). OOD works with partners in businesses, education and non-profit organizations to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities; helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities; and is the sole agency determining medical and vocational Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio. About the Job

The Assessment Specialist will work in the Human Resources Division, Workforce Planning and Development Section to create, analyze, and administer content-valid assessments for the purposes of employment (e.g., structured interview, written exam, physical demonstration) and organizational analysis (e.g., employment engagement surveys, training needs, exit interviews). Examples of duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop behaviorally anchored rating scales;

  • Guide, educate, and inform the assessment process (e.g., item writing, job analysis, structured interviewer techniques, rater training);

  • Conduct research (e.g., environmental scans, job observation, comparative data) then present conclusions in technical reports;

  • Assist other human resources functions within the unit (e.g., filling positions, position description writing, curriculum development) as needed; and

  • Administer tests virtually and in-person.

This position is classified as an Organizational Assessment Research Analyst.

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule that combines working from home with regular in-office and/or community presence. Currently, the Human Resources Division employees work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to Columbus, Ohio. Daytime and overnight travel within Ohio may be required.

Completion of graduate core program in industrial/organizational psychology OR completion of undergraduate core program in industrial/organizational psychology and one year of experience in job analysis and developing/validating assessments for the purposes of personnel selection.

An ideal candidate will possess the below competencies.

Knowledge of: job analysis; workforce planning; organizational development.

Skill in: testing software such as ProProfs or Questionmark; spreadsheets; word processing; statistical software such as R or SPSS.

Ability to: use statistical analysis to determine psychometric properties of tests and items, test validity, reliability, and adverse impact; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
