What you will be doing:
These positions are responsible for timely and accurate processing, certification, review and audit of all payroll and personnel actions for assigned departments. Assures all payroll and leave transactions are in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules, bargaining unit provisions, statutes and standard operating procedures. Provides technical information and assistance to managers, employees and the public.

We are located in the Michael J. Burns building, close to the Juneau/Douglas bridge; within walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores. This is a fast-paced work environment with duties changing daily based on the needs of payroll staff and the payroll cycle.

Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience. This experience is equivalent to a Human Resource Assistant, Office Assistant 2, or Accounting Clerk with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
One year of post secondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience which totals 12 years; or 6) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university.
"Human resource" includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel and payroll or labor relations.
This recruitment utilizes a supplemental questionnaire as part of the application process. These questions may be a mix of written, multiple choice, and select all that apply questions.
