The HR Specialist is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management throughout the organization. This role involves managing payroll and 401(k) administration, maintaining the HRIS system, supporting talent development and training programs, and being the primary contact for managing staffing partners and the recruitment process for both temporary and full-time staffing.
This role will serve as an employee-champion and culture builder, playing a key role in shaping a sustainable high-performance company culture. The HR Specialist will partner with the Vice President of Human Resources to deliver value-added service to leadership and employees. ProVeyance consists of 2 manufacturing facilities in the US, Holland Ohio & Ashland, Ohio.
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
Support the VP of HR in developing, implementing, and driving results on key organizational issues, including employee relations, performance management, policy and procedure applications, recruitment, retention, and employee engagement
Support the full life cycle of the employee experience, such as record management, onboarding, orientation, benefits, enrollments, performance, training, etc.)
Foster our safety-first workplace culture
Utilize excellent communication and people skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with all levels of management and employees
Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation as needed
Ensure organizational compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws & regulations
Manage & oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy & compliance
Administer the 401(k) plan, including employee enrollments, changes, and compliance with regulatory requirements
Maintain and update the HRIS system to ensure data accuracy and integrity
Generate reports for operations and monthly reporting and analyze HR data to support decision-making processes
Assist in designing, implementing, and supporting training and development programs throughout the organization
Support talent development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career growth
Develop and implement strategies to meet current and future staffing needs
Manage the recruitment process for temporary and full-time positions, including conducting phone screens, assessment interviews, and facilitating the candidate feedback process
Serve as the primary contact for managing relationships with staffing partners and ensuring they meet recruitment metrics and standards
Guide managers on effective interviewing and hiring practices
Proactively identify retention issues and provide timely solutions
Assist in managing and resolving complex employee relations issues in partnership with business leaders
Conduct thorough and objective investigations, including detailed documentation
Ensure the integrity, maintenance, and confidentiality of all personnel records in accordance with policies and procedures and applicable laws
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the HR department
Assist in change management initiatives across the business
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required
At least four years previous experience in an HR Generalist role
SHRM-CP preferred
Previous experience managing applicant tracking software, including a metrics dashboard
Manufacturing industry experience a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
Ability to travel at least twice per month to our Ashland, Ohio facility
