About The Role

Altabank, Division of Glacier Bank, is hiring a Part-time Human Resource Specialist located in our American Fork branch.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the Human Resource databases so that all employee records and files are accurate. This includes payroll information, terminations, position changes, time and attendance corrections, holiday hours, password resets, payroll deductions, and coordinate with Glacier Payroll for payroll adjustments. Send out weekly payroll email and reminders. Communicate any payroll issues with employees.

  • Coordinates recruiting efforts by: Prescreen applications and forward qualified candidates to manager; Maintain applicant tracing website ensuring jobs are opened/closed and applicants properly identified in the system; Complete references and background on all final candidates.

  • In coordination with HR Department/Management and Strategic initiatives, research Job Fairs and Internship possibilities with local Colleges. Identify community activities, chambers, and programs available to help in our Affirmative Action programs at the Bank. Track progress for annual tracking and reporting on activities.

  • Submits onboarding email for new employees and ensures processes are completed timely.

  • Maintains all employee records, files, I-9, scanning and indexing documents as well as source documents with retention guidelines.

  • Track completion of compliance requirements.

  • Maintain and balance ticket inventory.

  • Track Employee Recognition with Monthly birthday card distribution; Gifts Cards or flowers for significant employee events; Submit and track O.C. Tanner tenure awards monthly.

  • Provide confidential administrative support to the Human Resource department.

  • Register new employees and update NMLS database. Coordinate Annual Renewal process with Corporate.

  • Maintain Job Descriptions, review and update annually or as needed.

  • Employment notice and legal posters are reviewed annually and new information is sent out for compliance with State and Federal Regulations.

  • Maintains and distributes monthly reports on additions, changes, terminations, turnover, and Affirmative Action.

  • Cross Training: actively participates in HR Staff meetings, Corporate monthly meetings, cross trains on all HR department responsibilities, recommends continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

  • Special projects as assigned.

SCHEDULE: 20 hours per week/4 hours per day.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two to five years of similar or related experience.

  • A college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft software, and aptitude to learn new computer programs for HR functions

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws

  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.

  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.

  • Work may involve motivating (changing behavior), influencing, or training others.

  • External contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and sell ideas or services to others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Excellent attention to detail and well organized.

  • Employee must be capable of interacting calmly and professionally with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization.

  • Employee must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

  • Ability to adapt to change (e.g. shifting priorities, demands, and timelines) through time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: occasional lifting of 20-30 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
