Job Summary

KushCo Holdings is looking for a Human Resource Manager who can contribute to making our company a premier employment destination for top talent in the cannabis industry. The HR Manager will be responsible for evaluating employee programs, recommending improvements to employee relations policies and making sure that all employee-related policies in each department align with our corporate goals and established regulations. The successful candidate will be charged with reducing employee turnover and attracting top talent to fill open positions. This role is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, compliance and project management within the HR department. This individual will champion continuous improvement efforts and new systems implementation to enable scaling for a business experiencing explosive growth. The HR Manager will work out of the headquarters in Garden Grove, CA where they will lead the HR team to support a dynamic and energetic culture!

Examples of Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages full employee life-cycle process and procedures including recruiting, onboarding, training, benefits, performance management and terminations.

  • Recommends and administrates new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continuous improvements in efficiency of department and services performed for all company personnel.

  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals.

  • Promote and support Company culture by being a champion of a positive work environment and leading by example.

  • Oversees new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

  • Manage employee benefit programs, annual open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness.

  • Oversees all payroll functions including bi-weekly processing, tax remittance, ACA and W2 annual filings while partnering with Finance department for oversight.

  • HRIS system management (Paylocity).

  • Implements and updates the compensation program; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  • Reviews and approves job descriptions ensuring FLSA classifications are compliant.

  • Maintains handbook on policies and procedures for US and international locations.

  • Manages EEO-1 submission annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

  • Supports recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers by managing recruiting staff.

  • Create new ways to measure employee morale and determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction.

  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.

  • Assists Director of HR with special projects, as needed.

Qualifications Guidelines

Education/training/experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience as an HR Manager or similar supervisory experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology or related field.

  • Must have HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP).

  • Multi-state payroll processing experience.

  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in employment law and compliance.

  • International HR/Payroll experience is a plus.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

  • Federal and State compliance and HR Best practices.

  • Reporting requirements (EEO, ACA, OSHA).

  • Strong analytical skills and assertive decision maker.

  • Always maintain composure and discretion, even in difficult or emotional situations.

  • Positive attitude, attention to detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.

Physical Standards:

  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation.

  • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key.

  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials.

  • Constantly sitting, standing, walking, and operating a computer workstation.

  • This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting.

  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less.
