Role Summary:

GE Digital (New Orleans) is looking for a successful and highly-motivated student interested in obtaining hands-on experience in Human Resources. The Intern will work with the Human Resources Manager on key initiatives and be a part of meaningful projects that contribute to the success of our site and business.

Essential Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the HR Manager, the HR intern will work on assignments, tasks and projects in a variety of HR areas and processes including: recruiting & staffing, compensation & benefits, training & development, employee engagement, and employee relations.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in a 4 year-college or university program

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources management, psychology or related discipline

  • Minimum overall 3.0 GPA

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

  • Graduating between December 2018 June 2021

  • Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in the United States

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong organizational, analytical, project management, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently

  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. General Responsibilities: * Administers various human resource policies and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. * Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. * Performs benefits administration, including enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees. * Manages Leave of Absence/FMLA programs. * Maintains/administers affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations. * Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisements. * Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing. * Administers new hire/onboarding process, including new hire paper work, I-9 verification, background checks, etc. Coordinates with other departments to ensure that new employees are properly set up/equipped their first day of work. * Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database. * Process payroll semi-monthly. * Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. * Performs other related duties as required and assigned. * Travel to other offices may be required. Required Skills and Experience: * Minimum 3 years experience in a Human Resource position * Expertise in HR policies and procedures * Strong knowledge of hiring processes * Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations * Sound judgment and problem-solving skills * Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion * Familiarity with MS Office suite * Familiarity with HRIS and ATS * Payroll processing Education /Certifications: * Bachelors degree * PHR certification is a plus GCR Inc. offers its employees a competitive compensation package.
