General Summary:

Responsible for the human resource needs of supported business unit(s) and implementation of best practices to support achievement of corporate business objectives. Involvement includes but is not limited to recruitment for exempt and non-exempt level positions, employee and labor relations, job evaluations, benefit administration, organization development, training, affirmative action, HRIS and special projects. Provides input and assists in the development of policies and procedures and is responsible to ensure consistent application of all policies and procedures within the supported business unit.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with management and supervisors to effectively promote positive employee relations.

  • Partners with leaders to support employer of choice and Greenheck Operations Leadership Development (GOLD) initiatives.

  • Insures compliance with state and federal laws through efficient administration of company HR policies, procedures, programs and initiatives.

  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the local union to address labor relations issues, grievances, etc. in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participate in labor management meetings and contract negotiations.

  • Leads the recruitment and selection efforts across all levels of the business unit. Leads news hire orientation sessions.

  • Conducts employee meetings and assists in training and development sessions on various topics as needed.

  • Maintains visibility with all employees and addresses any issues and concerns that are identified in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assist with performance reviews and ensures the development and implementation of specific development plans to address performance issues.

  • Participates in employee engagement committee planning & coordinate activities such as a company picnics and holiday parties.

  • Partners with leaders to support and lead community engagement initiatives.

  • Participates in operations meeting within the business and advises management on all Human Resource related topics.

  • Other administrative duties including but not limited to; time & attendance admin, HRIS, benefits and payroll support.

Job Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field;

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a HR generalist role or equivalent;

  • Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment; working in a unionized environment preferred.

  • Direct hands on experience in all aspects of Human Resources including leadership and employee development, recruitment, compensation, labor relations, employee relations, and employment law;

  • Ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Ability to support 3 shifts and ability to flex schedule for business needs.

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Experience with HRIS, ideally SAP & Successfactors.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft word, excel & power point.

Essential Functions * Administer various human resource plans and procedures for plant personnel; assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures * Respond to employee relations issues, e.g., employee complaints, and escalate to HR Manager as needed; assist in guiding and coaching managers during the employee disciplinary process * Monitor employee eligibility for benefit plans; review benefits with employees; process benefits enrollment, cancellation, or changes; manage open enrollment communication and election process; verify benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment * Manage leave of absence process and return to work of FMLA, STD, and LTD claims and workers' compensation including necessary communication with the employee and management team * Provide assistance with workers' compensation process including entering claims, following up with employees, requesting and reviewing medical documentation as needed * Coordinate/conduct new hire orientation * Administer data entry in Alchemy, lead compliance training, and develop reports as needed * Assist in creating and facilitating training and development opportunities for workforce * Coordinate and maintain employee recognition program * Conduct stay and exit interviews to drive improvements within the organization * Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including unemployment claims and EEO-1 reporting * Maintain human resource information system records through entering new hires, status changes, and terminations; compile employee reports as needed; maintain employee filing system * Provide assistance as needed for recruitment and onboarding activities * Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures * Perform other job-related duties as assigned Qualifications (Education/Experience) * Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent education, training, and experience * 2-4 years of experience in a human resource role * CP/PHR certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12 months * Experience with a fast-growing manufacturing company preferred * Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to employment * Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; experience with HRIS, preferably ADP * Strong communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the Company * Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information * Ability to work closely with other departments to advise and resolve issues as needed * Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, manage changing priorities, and work well under pressure * Cultural competency; experience/ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience * Ability to work a flexible schedule including various shifts as needed Rise Baking Company Minneapolis MN
