Job Responsibilities and Requirements
The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is a key member of the HR team and partners with assigned client groups on various employment life cycle matters. The HRBP will provide support to the Senior HR Business Partner to execute on the strategic initiatives across the business unit. The HRBP will be a trusted advisor and counsel to front line managers, and will support the organization through organizational change and champion change management initiatives. The HRBP will engage with employees at all levels as a trusted partner and resource.
Operational Support
Develops and maintains positive, professional, and objective relationships with employees and management
Partners with managers to execute on their people priorities providing guidance, insight, and coaching on various employment life cycle matters
Utilizes various HR metrics, competitive benchmarking, and employee feedback to develop and improve the organization
Supports the organization's mission, strategy, and values and models the desired behaviors
Promotes a culture of performance optimization and continuous feedback through performance management that is transparent by focusing on clearly outlined goals, coaching and development, appropriate documentation, and continuous improvement meetings
Provides feedback and input for continuous improvement of process changes that lead to a better employee experience; leads and provides support on projects to implement changes
Partners with Employee Benefits on Leave of Absence process when appropriate
Partners with Talent Acquisition to develop staffing plans to ensure roles are filled with the best talent in a timely manner
Partners with Sr. HRBP and the Talent Development team to drive the talent assessment process, and determine talent development needs, including management and development of high potential employees.
Responsible for input of employment life cycle changes to HRIS systems, including creating requisitions, internal promotions, spot bonuses, manager changes, and terminations. Drafts letters and documentation where needed. Partners with HRIS to monitor data and ensure data integrity.
Conducts exit interviews and analyzes trends
Assists Sr. HRBP with job description review and creation
Participates in various strategic and tactical-level HR initiatives/special projects
Employee Relations
Reviews and guides managers on employment life cycle decisions
Based on a sound understanding of employment law, conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth, ensures appropriate documentation, and provides and/or implements recommendations for resolution; consults with Sr. HRBP and/or outside counsel as appropriate
Manages the application of policies and procedures to ensure the company is operating in a fair and legal manner; interprets the employee handbook using these same guidelines
Stays abreast of current trends, innovations, legal and regulatory policies and practices
Employee Engagement
Partners with manager to support them in efforts around employee engagement, ensuring follow up and action planning
Manages and executes reward and recognition programs as appropriate
Partners with managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
5+ years directly relevant HR experience serving as an HR Business Partner
Insurance industry experience a plus
Must possess thorough knowledge of employment law and ongoing legislation
Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal partners at all levels of the organization (e.g. employees, management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches and influence others
Possess and demonstrate excellent change management, project management, leadership, coaching and collaboration skills.
Embraces opportunities to streamline processes to drive efficiencies and improvements
Is able to deal with ambiguity, embracing change and helping others see it as an opportunity and stay focused on goals while adapting to change
Must possess and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to deliver presentations to various audiences
Must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Must be able to function in a matrix organization and team-based environment
Must be able to work longer hours during times of high volume and travel as required
Must be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and other HR-related software programs
Ability to Travel: Up to 10%
Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
