The Usability/Human Factors Engineer uses a holistic, multidisciplinary approach for the design of user interfaces for digital products, defining their form behavior, and content. The Engineer must integrate interactions design, industrial design, information architecture, information design, visual interface design, user assistance design, and user-center design, thus ensuring coherence and consistency across all design dimensions.

NOTE: This position requires an active Department of Defense Security Clearance and US citizenship for selection

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience.

OR

A High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of general system engineering experience (any Process Area) may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

OR

A Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of systems engineering experience.

OR

A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three (3) years of systems engineering experience.

Note 1 Examples of Qualified engineering fields include: Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management.

Note 2 - Examples of related disciplines include: Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.

NOTE: This position requires an active Department of Defense Security Clearance and US citizenship for selection

Desired Skills:

Information Technology- Experience in 1) Graphical User Interface requirements analysis, 2) Human-computer function/job/task analysis, 3) Scenario-based Engineering process, 4) Graphical User Interface design and layout, 5) Web Page design and development to include the use of wire frames and cascading style sheets, 6) rapid prototyping of user interfaces, 7) user interface usability evaluations, 8) user training, and 9) Human-computer performance analysis. 3 Years

Conduct usability testing and work closely with product designers and process engineers developing applications.

Design and develop user surveys to obtain end-user feedback.

During the usability and software engineering cycle phases (analysis, design, implementation, and deployment) work closely with users (analysts) to research and document user profiles, analysis tasks, workflows, and user scenarios; in order to create user interface design from specifications provided.
