Position Overview:

The Human Environmental Sciences Department-Human Development and Family Sciences Program seeks a full-time, visiting assistant professor or instructor to begin August 2023. This visiting position is for the 2023-2024 academic year only.

The Human Environmental Sciences -Human Development and Family Sciences assistant professor or instructor provides a quality learning experience for students. The visiting assistant professor or instructor serves as a teacher and facilitator of learning and will perform job-related responsibilities in a timely manner. The assistant professor or instructor is expected to deliver an educational experience to students consistent with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. Teaching, research, and departmental/school service is expected, as well as specific service to the to the college and department's support of online delivery.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) is a diverse unit offering 21 undergraduate and 29 graduate majors. CEPS is home to Oklahoma's first teacher preparation academy and includes seven academic departments: Adult Education & Safety Sciences; Curriculum & Instruction; the Donna Nigh Department of Advanced Professional & Special Services; Educational Sciences, Foundations & Research; Human Environmental Sciences; Kinesiology & Health Studies; and Psychology.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The Human Environmental Sciences Department is seeking a quality visiting assistant professor or instructor to serve our students in some combination of online and face-to-face classes. The assistant professor's or instructor's primary responsibilities for teaching will be connected to those courses related to the Child Development and Family Relations degree paths, and other courses as needed.

Courses taught may include Child & Family Theories, Lifespan Development, Marriage and Intimate Relationships, Research in Professional Studies, and Leadership, Communication, and Advocacy. Teaches a course load of 12 credit hours for the semester, advisement activity, evaluates student performance and maintains department records in accordance with university policies. Also, the successful candidate will adhere to the educational philosophy of the university, and work in a collaborative manner with colleagues, and maintains connections with members of professional organizations, and community leaders in the Child Development and Family Studies field. Excellence in teaching and demonstrated and/or potential for scholarly activity is requested.

Qualifications:

An earned Doctorate degree, or well along the doctoral degree trajectory, awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of Human Development & Family Science, Child Development, Marriage & Family Therapy or closely related field. Experience with D2L and other online learning platforms. Possess excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

NOTE: If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to instructor.

Experience/Education Required:

An earned Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of Child/Infant Development or closely related field (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).

Experience/Education Preferred:

Teaching in face-to-face and online experience preferred. Trained in D2L (Desire to Learn).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Training and research in the areas of Child Development, Family Relations, and Human Growth and Development.
