POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Anatomy Lab Coordinator and Anatomy Faculty oversees the operations of the cadaver lab and facilitates instruction in coursework in the anatomical sciences for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. This position involves collaborating closely with natural science and health science programs to ensure the smooth operation of lab sessions and facilitate meaningful educational experiences for students. The Human Anatomy Lab is integral to multiple programs, including the Master of Science in Athletic Training, Master of Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and undergraduate programs in biology, exercise science, and nursing. This is a 12-month faculty position with a combination of administrative responsibilities and teaching duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the human anatomy lab

  • Procurement and preparation/dissection of donors in alignment with curricular needs.

  • Ordering of laboratory supplies, equipment, and teaching materials

  • Scheduling and supervision of the lab for use by entities internal and external to the university

  • Lead or team-teach with other faculty in the instruction and testing of students in courses in the anatomical sciences at either undergraduate and graduate level as needed

  • Contribute to the curricular development of integrating gross anatomy into biology and health science academic programs

  • Contribute to university and program assessment

  • Supervise faculty/staff lab assistants, graduate assistants, student lab assistants who help maintain the lab

  • Participate in University service and professional development

  • Coordinate outreach events, workshops, and educational initiatives to promote anatomical knowledge to external entities, such as high schools, continuing education units (CEUs) for local healthcare providers, and other community organizations.

  • Support the mission of the University of Saint Mary

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Chair

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Earned doctoral degree in the biological sciences or a related area

  • Prior or current academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level, preferred

  • Experience in a gross anatomy lab

  • A demonstrated understanding of principles of the anatomical sciences.

  • Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, respect, and professionalism in the cadaver lab environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with program directors, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds.
