Position Summary:

AutoZone's Hub Drivers will perform duties inside our stores; as well as, in the operation of a company provided vehicle to assure the safe delivery of parts to and from AutoZone stores and commercial customers. Driver: Store Delivery ensures maximum productivity in a safe environment, drive sales, and remain compliant with company procedures in accordance to AutoZone's expectation. Driver: Store Delivery exceeds customer's expectation by delivering WOW! Customer Service experience by Living the Pledge every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides WOW! Customer Service

  • Follows all company policies, procedures and management direction, including all fleet and safety policies

  • Complies with safe driving rules and procedures and ensures parts are delivered on time and in excellent condition

  • Maintains safe driving and working environment, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Properly maintains vehicle(s), complete Daily Vehicle Checklist and take the necessary steps to report vehicle maintenance issues

  • Drives company vehicle to deliver parts to AutoZone stores, including safe loading and unloading of parts

  • Ensures appropriate delivery documentation is generated and issued for each delivery, then appropriately filed

  • Ensures assigned company vehicle is kept clean and presentable

  • Inspects, protects, and maintains company assets, merchandise, and vehicles

  • Processes and restocks returns from route deliveries in a timely manner

  • Assists DIY customers between deliveries by performing the following duties:

  • Utilizing ZNET to help customers locate merchandise or find suitable alternatives

  • Maintains product knowledge and current promotions through AutoZone systems and information sources

  • Maintains store appearance and merchandising standards as directed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts is required

  • Excellent communication and decision making skills

  • Ability to lift, load, and deliver merchandise

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the business needs, including holidays, evenings and weekend shifts

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet AutoZone's driving requirements

  • Drivers 21 years or older

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and/or outside an office, library, computer room, stockroom, or warehouse. Work may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and outdoor elements, such as: excessive dampness, chill, heat, humidity, intermittent noise, and inclement cold weather. Work may be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions, such as: unknown & dangerous conditions, unusual environmental stress, contagious infectious disease, irritating chemicals, life-threatening situations, dry atmosphere, solvents, dirt, grease, oils, silica, asbestos, dust, constant noise, pneumatic vibration, fumes, smoke, gases, radiant/electrical energy, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces. Capable of working closely with others or alone, working long or irregular working hours, working shift work and/or weekends, working with protective devices, working below ground, working on ladders or scaffolding, working around moving objects or vehicles, working around machines with moving parts and objects, working with hands in water, and traveling by truck 90% of the time. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, office equipment, and mechanical equipment; Work requires light to heavy carrying and lifting (under 15 pounds up to 45 pounds and over), straight pulling, pulling hand over hand, simple grasping, dual simultaneous grasping, repeated bending, sitting, standing, pushing, crouching, crawling, twisting, kneeling, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, walking, and reaching above shoulders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Operates heavy dump trucks 26 and 12 cubic yards. * Operates front loader, backhoe, tractors, and medium size cranes. * Inspects trucks daily; detects, identifies, and reports improper equipment performance and make necessary operational adjustments. * Meets with customers and provides an explanation of services available or unavailable. * Maintains the records on problem pick-ups and tries to resolve the issue with the customer. * Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. * Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications. * Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or G.E.D. * AND- At least three (3) years of truck driving experience, including operating a Lowboy and Tractor Trailer Hauler (18-wheeler). * OR- At least five (5) years of truck driving experience, including operating a Lowboy and Tractor Trailer Hauler (18-wheeler). Valid Licenses and Certifications Valid Texas Commercial Driver License (C.D.L.)
