The Bio Med Equipment Technician I perform installations, regular maintenance, repairs and calibrations on assigned medical equipment to ensure their proper operation and function. The Bio Med Equipment Technician I perform planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections as assigned. The Bio Med Equipment Technician I assist in the evaluation of new equipment, accessories and supplies; inspect incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer instructions; and will work with new hires and staff to cross-train on systems and equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment and techniques for testing, calibrating, operating and troubleshooting biomedical systems and equipment. The Bio Med Technician I establish and maintain files of supporting literature for each piece of medical equipment, such as the manufacturer technical literature, reference standards, specifications and other documents necessary to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies including TJC. The Bio Med Equipment Technician I accurately and legibly accounts for productive time using the departments computerized maintenance management system.

VIEW JOBS 8/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-19T00:00 The Monitor Technician for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) monitors, records, interprets, and documents the electrocardiograph tracings of patients on telemetry monitors. The Monitor Technician recognizes and reports arrhythmias to medical/nursing staff. In addition, the Monitor Technician for BSWH has the following responsibilities: * Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection system, and rhythm printers. * Observes and documents ECG monitors according to established guidelines and reports to appropriate staff the necessary information such as patient name, room number, cardiac rhythm, dysrhythmia, and/or life-threatening situations. * Maintains equipment and monitors (including proper cleaning) and reports any malfunctions to the appropriate Biomed individual. * Sets up central station and monitors, including alarms, troubleshooting for false alarms, and improper lead placement. * Helps with rhythm interpretation and dysryhthmia detection. Labels monitor strips to indicate significant events such as defibrillation, electrical-cardioversion, CPR, and/or code medication administration. * Records information in patient log and maintains accurate, neat account of patient's cardiac monitoring status during episode of care. Identifies and records patient's rhythm and changes in patient rhythm and/or condition. * Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart in relation to waves, complexes, time and voltage as shown through the conduction system and strip interpretation * Knowledge of telemetry services * Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team. * Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in the workload and work schedules. * Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergencies. * Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers.
