The HSE Specialist is responsible for implementation of the organization's HS&E strategy, ensuring all employees have a safe and healthy work environment. Ensures compliance with regulations and laws. Conducts safety audits to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions. Investigates accidents, completes or verifies accident reports, and liaises with safety authorities to identify the root causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. Recommend changes to working conditions to ensure all employees have a safe and healthy working environment.
Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage action assuring safe behavior; confront unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
Regularly and predictably attend work and be punctual
Work in excess of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, as required to meet business needs
Work in an unsupervised environment
Read, write, and speak English fluently
Use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
Assist in the development of the HSE Program including training material and the training program
Conduct Hazard Assessments
Continual Education / Participate in Train the Trainer Programs, i.e. SafeLand USA, PEC H2S Clear, First Responder, etc.
Maintain HSE data and records
Lead safety meetings as needed
Conduct HSE training for Apergy employees and contractors
Mentor shop and field employees on HSE initiatives and policies
Promote continual improvement within the HSE program
Working knowledge of Worker's Compensation laws
Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations
Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction
Ability to practice attentive and active listening
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effectively present information and respond to questions
Bachelor's Degree in Safety-related field
2+ years HS&E experience in manufacturing or oil & gas
Professional certification in HSE is preferred (ASP, CSP, OHST)
