KION North America, a leading provider of material handling solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated HSE Specialist to join our dynamic team! As the HSE Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in creating and publishing electronic procedural documentation and provide environmental, health and safety and security support to ensure operational compliance with local, state, federal, corporate HSE, and ISO standards (EPA, DHEC, OSHA, DOT, ISO14001 and ISO45001).
This role is located onsite in the beautiful greater Charleston area: Summerville, SC and reports to the Sr. Manager, HSE.
Travel: up to 10% with possibility for international destinations on rare occasion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and publish ISO compliant procedural documentation and assist with the evaluation of manufacturing and assembly operations to ensure compliance with all legal, ISO, and HSE standards
Evaluate projects (MAE) in early stages and provide project management in accordance with HSE guidelines, and federal, state & local laws and permitting and conduct systematic follow-up of deficiencies and projects
Assist with the management and monitoring of required occupational health and environmental programs (i.e. audiograms, air quality testing, water sampling and lab testing)
Assist in the evaluation and distribution of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), training programs (LOTO, Electrical Safety, Hazcom, etc.) and accident/incident investigation
Perform various audits and inspections on a routine basis (HSE, Security, ISO-14001, ISO-45001)
Monitor and evaluate new and existing chemicals and ensure that storage and documentation standards are correctly applied in accordance with HSE and all legal requirements
Maintain confidential paperwork requirement for federal and state laws (i.e., OSHA 300, workers compensation, associates medical records and other office records) and update data for the HSE local and corporate metrics
Assist in HR initiatives such as Wellness Program activities (Health Fair, Health Screenings, Flu Shots, new hire orientation/training. Organize and track HSE training compliance
Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the dept, the plant, and the community and perform other related activities as needed
Tasks and Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Certified in CPR, AED, BBP and First Aid (or ability to be within 3 months of hire)
Valid driver's license and passport for potential international travel (or passport receipt within 3 months of hire)
Ability to continuously stand and walk for long periods and lift 50 lbs. intermittently
Demonstrated understanding of EPA and DHEC policies and reporting guidelines.
Demonstrated experience in 6S and continuous improvement process programs.
Preferred: Familiar with Medical Process (Worker's Compensation, STD, FMLA, etc.)
