HSE Specialist will provide help and support in relation to all HSE matters within the North America Region Central GeoMarket, ensuring adherence to all internal HSE policies and external Legal requirements. Housing allowance eligible for the hired candidate.
Oversee specific aspects of health, safety and environmental programs to maintain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal and external business requirements and driving continuous improvement
Evaluate and maintain federal, state and local regulatory required reports, plans, permits, and procedures, including but not limited to: SPCC, SWPPP and Waste Management and Minimization
Influence and mentor facility leadership toward the strengthening of an Interdependent HSE Culture
Develop, prepare and present regular updates to facility leadership on key HSE performance indicators
Facilitate or lead incident investigations as well as the development and assessment of corrective and preventative actions
Analyze incident and near miss trends to identify emerging issues and recommend corrective actions
Perform self-assessments and audits to assure conformance with BHGE HSE management system
Oversee employee health programs including chemical risk assessment, respiratory protection, ergonomics and hearing protection
Serve as HSE specialist for job hazard analyses, management of change, incident investigation and reporting, and emergency planning and response
Job site assessments and audits at field locations
Providing support to management and acting as champion for the development and execution of a performance based safety program throughout the company
Determining the compliance necessary, maintaining and updating safety policies and programs, ensuring that new policies or programs are implemented in compliance with regulatory requirements
Staying abreast of industry trends and regulatory requirements. Implementing necessary changes on a timely basis that meet all requirements in keeping with the business environment
Leading the effort to implement an effective HSE MS program
Associates degree and 5-6 years' experience or Bachelor's degree and 3-6 years' experience in HSE.
Thorough understanding of HSE regulations and the regulatory process
Proven written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and/or field location personnel where required
Willingness to work with people of different cultures and countries
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong presentation skills
Experience and/or knowledge with Waste Handling requirements, Hazard Communication standards, Risk Identification and Mitigation, and Culture Transformation
Experience in HSE Management Systems and Auditing
Experience in Root Cause investigation techniques
Ability to work to deadlines
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team environment
Ability to plan and prioritize workloads coupled with ability to work under pressure
Ability to be flexible when required
Professional designations recognized by HSE certifying bodies (CSP, CRSP, ASP, etc)
