Overview
The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe and healthy work environment. They work closely with management, employees, and regulatory agencies to identify risks, implement preventative measures, and promote a safety culture within the organization. A successful candidate will be an experienced HSE professional with extensive working knowledge in health, safety, and environmental disciplines. The candidate will possess a high level of technical expertise with demonstrated experience in change management and continuous organizational improvement. Must be process-driven to ensure that safety processes are being followed and managed. Additionally, the selected candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can apply critical thinking skills in times of urgency.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in an HSE-related discipline is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the HSE field is required, with preferred experience in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process.
OSHA Maritime / General Industry Outreach Instructor experience is preferred.
ISO experience is beneficial.
Currently holds or can obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel & Outlook.
What is the Working Condition:
Clear motor vehicle report for driving purposes to conduct business on behalf of the company.
Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dust, dirt, rain, wind, high humidity during day and night shifts, and noise.
Ability to work beyond standard office hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends, based on operational needs.
Ability to travel within local and non-local locations as required.
Must be able to obtain and pass a Pulmonary Function and Respirator Fit Test.
Access must be climbed, and egress ladders must be used to access ship holds and cranes.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute on-site inspections to audit the working conditions and ensure safe working practices.
Administer Safety and Quality orientation for all new employees.
Ensure the company work environment meets the rules and regulations of all Federal, State, and local agencies. Participate in reviews and inspections by such agencies.
Report all safety incidents and quality defects observed through the company's internal Quality Flow platform.
Manage the inventory and dissemination of personal protective equipment to employees.
Verify and submit documentation for employee equipment operator certifications/recertifications.
Coordinate complete cycle incident case management and manage all Safety investigations (RCA and PIR).
Guide safe work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
