This is a great opportunity for someone who has established HSE excellence (ex: Site HSE Coordinator) and is looking to advance into a regional role.

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all John Crane, Smiths Group, and regulatory objectives, policies, and requirements within a specific region. They are responsible for the refreshing, enhancing, and adapting the HSE strategy as required for the ever-evolving customer demands and business strategy and ensuring that this is reflected in the HSE strategy.

This position is responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of John Crane's HSE Systems within the John Crane transactional teams and sites. As a member of the Global HSE team, the HSE Manager will directly contribute to the creation of a world class safety security and assist in the reduction of the environmental impacts of operations within the assigned region.

This position reports directly to the Global Regional HSE Manager Americas and is a key strategic position to the long-term success of the group's QHSE improvement strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Activities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the John Crane HSE guidelines and practices within their assigned country to achieve overall business goals.

  • Drive HSE communication process to ensure compliance with all identified HSE requirements within their country.

  • Evaluate current site and country HSE programs and activities and work with all relevant employees to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Work with team members to ensure support of site HSE activities to identify best practices.

  • Guide and promote safe work performance by developing proactive HSE systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with Division/Regional strategies.

  • Support customer HSE requirements including data management for contractor databases including but not limited to ISNetworld, Achilles and other relevant bodies.

  • Determine training requirements and aid specific sites and departments in completing training. Conduct training for managers and employees.

  • Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certifications and ISO 45001 Safety Management System Certifications in conjunction with the Global HSE Team.

  • Conduct legal compliance audits, write and update procedures, training, etc.

  • Provide assistance and review all John Crane incident investigations, ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate, completed timely, and lessons learned communicated.

  • Report, monitor, and drive correction of environmental, health, safety and security concerns.

  • Ensure all HSE reporting is completed, including monthly reporting, customer prequalification forms, and other requested information.

  • Implement and maintain loss prevention programs to achieve highly protected risk status.

  • Coordinate all energy use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and waste generation reduction projects. Produce capital expenditure requests and present a business case for all projects.

  • Generate HSE performance metrics to measure performance progress and to evaluate HSE and loss prevention program effectiveness within the assigned country.

  • Willing to travel (up to 30% travel )

  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and drives the integration of best practices and lessons learned in Global HSE Systems and policies.

  • Provide oversight of John Crane Global HSE Manuals, Policies, and HSE internal assessment processes (including support of Global third party and customer HSE assessments).

  • Provides support to teams in the areas of HSE systems, processes, and tools.

  • Collaborates with Global peers in the area of HSE and Security as well as Process Excellence, ensuring alignment across the enterprise.

  • Drives enhancements to systems, processes, and tools to support changing / evolving global needs / requirements.

  • Assist and support HSE process improvement initiatives in conjunction with Global HSE team.

  • Support the Global HSE team on the implementation and ongoing maintenance of HSE and security reporting platforms.

  • Deploys, leads, coaches, mentors, and develops HSE personnel, and drives continuous improvements.

The Individual

  • 3 to 7 years HSE experience plus strong working knowledge of HSE regulations and requirements.

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience required in HSE Systems for multi-site organization.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is required.

  • Proven capability to implement technical fundamentals of safety and environmental management, including risk assessments and reduction, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics, and occupational health. Must demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills and have experience in leading cross functional teams through collaboration and influence.

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 HSE management systems required.

  • Demonstrated skills must include strong written and oral communication, resource management, problem solving, process improvement, conflict resolution and process development / deployment administration and change management.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Willing to travel (up to 30% travel).

Salary & Benefits

The total compensation for this role is $85,000-$128,000 per year based on level of experience.
