Amentum is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety/Quality Manager to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. As the EH&S/Quality Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing the EH&S and quality programs under senior management direction. You must recognize, evaluate, recommend and implement policies and procedures to ensure awareness of and compliance with EH&S and quality requirements of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, manages EH&S and quality functions on a large contracting program.
Requires independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Uses independent judgment and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Responsible for monitoring and preventing chemical, biological, physical hazards and diseases present throughout work sites.
Reviews and incorporates health standards published by regulatory authorities.
Ensures that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of regulations.
Provides all necessary reports to Federal, State and local agencies.
Directs audits of health and safety program to identify and control significant loss producing exposure.
Must keep fully informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations.
Develops and provides basic EH&S/Quality training to employees.
Tracks and trends established EH&S leading and lagging monthly key performance indicators.
Promotes communication programs to ensure employee awareness of incidents and associated corrective actions, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, and status of project EH&S goals and key performance indicators.
Provides leadership direction to management and professional personnel of the organization.
Performs quality checks on materials and processes to ensure standards are being met.
Performs vehicle inspections regularly to maintain safety.
Ensures investigation is conducted and documented for incidents, near-misses, injuries and/or conditions which could have resulted in an adverse outcome relating to safety, unsafe work practices or quality.
Analyze incident and inspection findings to identify root causes and oversee/track corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
Must hold an active Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with polygraph.
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environment, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or an applied science field or demonstrated equivalent and 8 years of experience, including management, or equivalent.
Certification in CIH, CSP, CMIOSH, CHMM, PE, or CHP should be pursued or completed.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizational skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
