The purpose is for support of centralizedmanagement of real estate appraisal and environmental requirements underexisting policy and applicable laws and regulations. The position will provide a separate andindependent function from the lending area in the selection, ordering,reviewing, and accepting of real estate appraisals, evaluations andenvironmental reports. While this position will include both appraisaland environmental due diligence, the primary focus of this position will relateto the environmental due diligence process. Additionally, this position will enhanceongoing risk management to Corporate Credit via portfolio monitoring andreporting. In this role, you will be responsible for the following: Environmental Process and Policy Ensurescompliance to applicable regulations and mitigates potential losses due to collateralenvironmental conditions. Updates and revises, when appropriate,Environmental Policy. PresentsEnvironmental Policy annually to the Credit Committee. Reviewsand updates the existing standard operating procedures for the environmentaldue diligence process. Environmental Risk Management onexisting and new collateral Assesses environmental risk withrecommendations for existing and new collateral. This process includes the reviewof all available resources including external reports, questionnaires and onlineresources. The assessment and recommendations are presented and summarized in awritten review document. This Risk Management and Review will consist ofmultiple processes including: * Initial environmental screening of new requests * Assessment of appropriate level of due diligence based on riskfactors * Engagement for third-party environmental reports * Review of third party reports to ensure appropriateness relative tocontent, ASTM standards, conclusions and recommendations. When appropriate, consultation with SVPof the group or external consultant will take place. * Preparation of written environmental site assessment document with conclusionand recommendations * Assists in vendormanagement, appraisal review and other department related requirementsincluding administrative task as assigned. EnvironmentalReport Tracking Responsible for tracking allreports in process including ongoing contact with lenders and vendors.Responsible for timely review of all reports within prescribed time frame. When appropriate, assigns environmental duediligence tasks within the department. PortfolioOn-going Environmental review– Regular and ongoing review and action of potential reported new environmentalincidents on portfolio collateral as reported within the EDR database. Environmental Education andDevelopment Ongoingtraining of new hires across business lines on internal environmental processand lender due diligence. Other requirements Assistsin vendor management, appraisal review and other department relatedrequirement including administrative task as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Educationand Experience * Bachelor's degree in EnvironmentalSciences preferred or significant experience in environmental due diligence * 3-5 years of environmental relatedexperience in Environmental Remediation/Phase one development/review Skills/Knowledge * Individual should beknowledgeable in ASTM Standards, MassDEP regulations (Mass Contingency Plan)along with Federal environmental regulations. * Individual should have bankand/or Environmental experience in the preparation or the review of Phase I /Phase II reports. * Individual should be proficientin standard Office products (Excel/Word) * Ability to research items throughinternet sources * Analytical skills required * Attentive to detail * Ability to multi-task * Strong business writing skills Eastern Bank Boston MA
