This position is a full-time position with state benefits including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

Salary Grade: GN07 Salary Range: $32,703 - $51,904

This position is located at Warren Correctional Institution in Manson, NC which is a adult male facility that houses approximately 680 offenders and has a staff of 323. This position provides direct supervision of two staff and is responsible for carrying out the day to day functions associated with all aspects of the Human Resource department to include:

  • monitoring applicant roster, scheduling interviews for all positions,
  • processing hiring/separation packages, calculates appropriate salary for new hires, promotions, in-range adjustments, etc.
  • process/monitor LOA actions,
  • administer New Hire Orientation, all employee benefits, workers compensation, ADA, FMLA/FILA, Short/Long Term disability, Voluntary Shared Leave, and other personnel programs as deemed necessary,
  • works closely with staff to help resolve payroll issues and any other personnel matters,
  • responsible for complying several monthly reports and maintains employee database,
  • uses the BEACON system to administer all areas of time and leave management; corrects time entries on an as needed basis; troubleshoots leave or pay problems which pertain to negative leave balances or payroll discrepancies,
  • works with employees in preparation of retirement,
  • works closely with upper management to expedite hiring of new employees,
  • maintains information that is confidential and sensitive.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) associated with the position. These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position therefore you must provide supporting information, within the body of your application, to demonstrate your possession of each KSA listed.

  • Documented recruitment, employment/hiring experience.

  • Documented experience handling employee benefits, payroll issues, and a variety of other programs i.e; FMLA, VSL, Short/Long-term, Workers Compensation.

  • Documented knowledge of personnel management

Management prefers:

Candidates with prior State government HR experience;

Beacon/SAP specific experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
