The Human Resources organization seeks Masters level students in Human Resources Management, Industrial and Labor Relations, I/O Psychology, Business or relevant related area, for a full-time, 3-month internship located in one of it's New Jersey or Pennsylvania locations.

Responsibilities for the intern include working both independently and with other HR professionals. Projects and assignments will be customized closer to the internship based on candidate's interest and business needs, but may include:

  • Participate in the execution of our Company's talent strategies and solutions, including talent attraction, development, and retention solutions.

  • Participate on an HR Operations project related to a key program or project priority for HR, inclusive of strategic planning, project management and communications.

  • Involvement in projects focused on compensation solutions for our Company's divisions and functions and/or use of workforce analytics to drive solutions to address business needs.

  • Involvement in projects focused on the changing demographics of the global workforce and our Company's response.

Required:

  • Currently enrolled Masters' level student in the disciplines of Human Resources Management, Industrial and Labor Relations, I/O Psychology, Business or relevant related area, who has completed at least 1 year of coursework at time of internship but who has not yet received his/her degree.

  • Ability to work full time on site

  • High level of organization & attention to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Ability to work independently

  • Skill in probing and proactively asking the right questions to get needed information

  • Skill in delivering high quality work in a fastpaced, demanding company

  • Willingness and motivation to meet aggressive deadlines and accomplish challenging objectives

Activity Leaders work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Activity Manager.</p> <p>In addition to a salaried wage, full room and board is provided for the duration of employment; residing on campus is required. PLUS U.S. employees are expected to work a flexible schedule. Night and weekend work is expected to meet the demands of the program and no vacation time can be honored during the contracted employment period. Regional travel is required and will be provided by PLUS. Employees are responsible for all travel and moving costs to and from campus location prior to and at the conclusion of their contract. Travel to excursion destinations and any work travel during the contracted period will be covered by PLUS.</p> <p> </p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>The following is expected of Activity Leaders: <br />  </p> <p><strong>Standard Expectations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Interact with groups of international high school students and their group leaders in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented manner</li> <li>Be familiar with, adhere to, and enforce PLUS policies and procedures</li> <li>Ensure the safety of all participants, including taking them to the hospital, if necessary, and documenting all hospital visits for insurance purposes</li> <li>Be familiar with campus-specific information, including everything in the PLUS Guide</li> <li>Maintain frequent communication with PLUS staff</li> <li>Be on call every night for the duration of the program</li> <li>Assist with emergency situations, as needed</li> <li>Complete all PLUS assessments received during employment period</li> <li>Assist in duties other than the aforementioned and the following, as assigned and as they arise</li> </ul> <p><strong>Off-Campus Activities (Excursions)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead groups of students and their group leaders on off-campus excursions, while providing them with information about tourist sights</li> <li>Interact with participants on the coach buses on the way to and from tourist sights, doing activities, playing games, etc.</li> <li>Engage with and conduct activities with students during their “free time” to explore tourist sights</li> <li>Conduct walking and bus tours of sights for participants according to the PLUS Guide; be familiar enough with the PLUS Guide to present the information and tours in a high-quality manner</li> <li>Assist the Activity management team in ensuring that excursions run smoothly</li> <li>Coordinate and lead day and overnight trips, as instructed</li> <li>Supervise students on the buses and at the tourist sights</li> <li>Greet students and their group leaders at the airport</li> <li>Provide a “welcome speech” upon picking them up and coordinate with bus drivers to ensure groups are transported safely back to campus</li> <li>Assist with hotel check-ins and check-outs for overnight excursions</li> <li>Be on-duty and on-call on a rotating basis during overnight excursions at hotels</li> </ul> <p><strong>On-Campus Activities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supervise and participate in on-campus activities</li> <li>Coordinate and lead on-campus activities, as requested</li> <li>Attend and participate in all of the following activities: talent shows, graduation ceremonies, and “Welcome Night” presentations that orient students to the PLUS program</li> <li>Encourage student participation in on-campus events</li> <li>Participate in at least two talent show acts per session talent show</li> <li>Conduct campus tours for participants, as instructed</li> </ul> <p><strong>Customer Service</strong></p> <ul> <li>Liaise with group leaders, understanding and addressing their expectations and concerns</li> <li>Attend and/or conduct meetings with group leaders, as needed</li> </ul> <p><strong>Participant Interaction</strong></p> <ul> <li>Interact with groups of international high school students and their group leaders in a professional, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented manner</li> <li>Engage with students as much as possible to help them improve their conversational English skills</li> <li>Encourage student participation and involvement in the PLUS program</li> <li>Eat and converse with PLUS participants during meal times</li> </ul> <p><strong>Student Supervision</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supervise students in the residence halls and dining hall</li> <li>Supervise students during excursions and on-campus events, as instructed</li> <li>Be on-duty on a rotating basis</li> </ul> <p><strong>Office & Miscellaneous</strong></p> <ul> <li>Attend daily staff meetings</li> <li>Responsible for tracking Company spending</li> <li>Responsible for appropriate use and documentation of company card, as needed</li> <li>Assist in the distribution, tracking, and reconciliation of all participant per diems and/or gift cards</li> <li>Assist in administrative tasks, including assisting the Academic Supervisor to ensure all academic needs are met</li> <li>Assist in preparing the campus for students’ arrival</li> <li>Assist in participant check-in and check-out processes and changeover periods</li> <li>Assist the Activity team as necessary and as requested</li> <li>Assist in the distribution of boxed meals</li> <li>Walk students to and from classroom buildings, as instructed</li> </ul> <p><br /> Qualifications and Desired Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Authorization to work in the U.S. required</li> <li>Must be 18 years or older</li> <li>High school diploma required</li> <li>Previous summer camp experience or work with minors preferred</li> <li>Previous international experience preferred</li> <li>Previous customer service experience preferred</li> <li>Athletic, musical, theatrical, and/or artistic talent and enthusiasm strongly preferred</li> </ul> <p>The successful candidates will be able to work individually and as a member of a team and have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
