We are searching for student assistants to support our front reception, employment and student employment areas within the department of Human Resources. The experience and training that student employees receive in the HR department can be extremely beneficial for future employment opportunities. Our student assistants perform important tasks including one or more of the duties listed below.

Job Duties:

  • Typical office duties including answering phones/emails, filing, copying/printing

  • Assist with student and staff I-9 processes

  • Creating file folders/labels for employees and job postings

  • Entering confidential data and imaging in HR database

  • Calling applicant references

  • Assist with job fairs

  • Updating bulletin board with current job postings weekly

  • Other duties assigned by the respective HR teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and work well independently and with a team

  • Shows initiative and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Have a proven record of being on time in the workplace

  • Customer service experience

  • Attention to detail and record keeping

  • Be professional at all times

  • Keep the strictest standard of confidentiality as a Human Resources student employee

  • Computer experience in a professional setting (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, etc.) and the ability to learn new programs quickly

  • A working knowledge of office procedures, i.e., filing, answering phones, copying, etc.

  • Able to receive instructions and understand duties as assigned with the expectation of reasonable completion of tasks

  • Have current, verifiable references

The CAWC is excited to begin execution of two strategic initiatives: The Global Readiness Certificate and Voices of Discovery: Intergroup Dialogue. The Global Readiness Certificate will create a bridge between internationalization and multiculturalism whereby undergraduate students seeking to develop global and intercultural competencies earn distinction upon successful completion of the program. Intergroup Dialogue is an innovative practice in higher education that promotes student engagement across cultural and social divides, fostering learning about social diversity and inequalities and cultivating an ethos of social responsibility. This approach to diversity education on college and university campuses responds to a growing need for educational practices that prepare students to live, work, and lead in a complex, diverse, and stratified society. Miami students will be introduced to Intergroup Dialogue under the brand "Voices of Discovery" (Voices). The launch of these two exciting initiatives requires the support of an exceptional graduate student who will provide holistic support to the programs and the center in general. Responsibilities may include: * Recruitment of undergraduate participants for both Voices and the Global Readiness Certificate. * Research and compilation of articles to be included in the reader for Voices. * Development, management and reporting of assessment for center programs with support from CAWC professional staff. * Facilitation of program orientation and workshops. * Assistance with management of social media accounts and outreach developed by in-house marketing team. * General office support of the CAWC as needed.
