While reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the HR function at Franklin Park, IL. This Plant has 180 employees and has both Union and non-Union employees. This business is a key strategic part of the Specialty and Prepared Foods End Use Market, within the Plastics Division. The Production and support Operations work a 24/7 schedule. As a member of the leadership team, the Plant HR Specialist must be a driven and engaged leader focused on providing solutions to business challenges and developing a high performing culture. The ability to influence across all levels will be a significant factor for success in this role.
You will implement and oversee the effective practice of HR policy, procedures and processes; collaborate with regional HR and/or corporate HR resources to ensure compliance and alignment with company protocols. May provide support to HR Generalist or Associate Manager on background investigations, recruiting and performance management activities.
Leads plant orientation programs engaging with plant leadership and work to improve program within plant.
Assists employees with onboarding processes, documentation and I-9 verification; helps employees with Workday and SIMON login issues and navigation and enrolling and explaining benefits.
Manages random drug testing, pre-employment and background process
Supports hourly payroll function and looks for opportunities for process improvement.
Processes Workday hourly hires to include issuing badges, updating Kronos information and finalizing hire information.
Books, schedules and manages plant interview processes, ensures positive candidate experience.
Manages Workkeys and Minimizer testing logistics. Proctors Workkeys test.
Monitor temp employee time and converts temps to full time employees
Responds to onsite immediate disciplinary responsibilities
Provides coaching to hourly employees
Manages employee appreciation programs
Holds employee training including orientation, employee morale surveys, benefits reviews; maintains employee files.
Processes job changes and data entry within Workday.
Audits payroll, general wage increase process and tracks time and attendance
Instrumental involvement in CSD pillar including maintenance of Element Trees, SWFL, in house development assessments and Sonoco University training. Usually leads CSD Pillar.
Administers FMLA program by tracking leave and issuing forms and information to employee.
Recruits, manages and markets plant Apprenticeship program.
May support activities within other sites and projects related to and not limited to corrective actions, recruiting and performance management.

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business with a concentration in Human Resources, Masters of Human Resources or MBA preferred
5-7+ years of experience working in Human Resources within a manufacturing environment required
Proficiency in English and Spanish
