HR Manager, Technical Services
Location: Kohler, WI
The HR Manager, Technical Services reporting to Sr Mgr-HR, Technical Services will work closely with the Corporate leaders and teams within Technical Services, including but not limited to Architecture & Interior Design, Construction Engineering & Management, Digital Factory & Automation, Safety & Environmental Compliance, Corporate Procurement, Energy Management and Kohler Operating Systems, to support the business and HR priorities, projects and initiatives. Provides expert support in all HR functions including organizational development, recruitment and selection, performance management and associate/labor relations to build the strength of the organization. Provides ongoing advice and coaching to management related to associate performance and all other HR issues. Works as a business partner with leadership and other significant stakeholders. The HR Manager, Technical Services will also partner with the Technical Services HR team and HR COE's to communicate, coordinate and deliver corporate initiatives throughout the group.
Maneuvers as an expert in the following: HR processes, procedures, and employment law. Acts as a consultant to counsel Management and associates on individual HR issues, performance problems, terminations, promotions, position creation, job content, job description development, compensation structures and processes, and ACT's.
Skilled in employee relations issues and very knowledgeable in union and non-union environments. Ensures sound employee relations policies are developed, communicated and implemented. Assists leadership in creating a positive, receptive environment where employees feel valued and appreciated. Looks for innovative ways to develop high morale to display an employer of choice.
Coordinate all hiring in the US, and partner with regional HR teams for global recruitment activity. Effectively runs executive searches and has basic knowledge of variable compensation program designs. Partner with the business to establish hiring profiles and parameters. Deploys all resources necessary to attract, develop, and retain the best and brightest and achieve diversity improvement goals.
Develops method for analyzing and balancing the Human Resource needs and costs of the Business Unit as compared to the scale of the whole Kohler Business. Looks for ways to save costs through administrative efficiencies, innovative approaches and deploying technology.
Drive performance management initiatives for leadership across Technical Services including customized development of leaders and high potential associates. Champion the consistent utilization of performance management tools such as Maximizing Performance, performance quintiles, job families, executive coaching and assessments to continually develop leadership. Actively assesses capability and coaches leaders and below.
Facilitates ensuring proper climate exists where individuals can be accountable, make the "right" decisions and take pride in their individual accomplishments.
Organizational Development efforts focused on change management, lean manufacturing, "leading with respect" and Talent Champion behaviors. Manages the succession planning process on a global basis for assigned teams. Understands the strengths, weaknesses, talent levels, skill gaps and development needs for associates at every level and across all regions within assigned teams.
Supports regional talent management leveraging policies on salary differential, visa and citizenship issues, expatriate and repatriation challenges and use of relocation policies.
With solid understanding of leadership development curriculum, identify and select programs to develop high potential employees for current and future assignments. Additionally, develop those with potential for future leadership roles. Work with management to facilitate identification of critical skills and identify cost effective and timely training programs to teach these skills.
Drive the use of HR Dashboard metrics within the organization to better understand and proactively handle issues such as turnover, recruitment costs, and diversity as examples. Establish key tracking with metrics and historical data to monitor the merits of talent management initiatives over time.
Provides leadership and direction with assistance from the Kohler Labor Relations Center of Excellence in all required compliance areas - this includes: EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, etc. or other compliance areas.
Undertakes special projects on behalf of the Technical Services and/or Corporate HR teams.

Reports directly to: Senior Manager-HR, Technical Services.
Dotted line reports for this position include: Area Associate II, HR.

Kohler Co. Centers of Excellence
Frequent contact with Kohler Co. Human Resource Centers of Excellence to gain information, work on joint projects and utilize expertise.
Frequent contact with Associates, Managers, Directors, and Executives within Technical Services.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree, preferably in Human Resources
More than 7 years of experience with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results.
SPHR Certification (or equivalent) a plus.
Able to achieve results cross-functionally, globally, and across the Technical Services teams it supports.
Must be able to balance multiple priorities, resolve differences diplomatically, and be comfortable with managing both direct and indirect relationships.
To be successful, the candidate must be able to provide management at all levels with candid skills and style flexibility to be able to quickly and accurately discern critical issues and respond appropriately.
Must be able to handle confidential information and exercise discretionary judgment.
Developed and demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple, complex assignments, along with developed and demonstrated business partnership skills.
International experience a plus.
