Job Summary

The HR Manager will be responsible for evaluating employee programs, recommending improvements to employee relations policies and making sure all employee-related policies align with our corporate goals and established regulations. This position is responsible for reducing employee turnover at our company and attracting top talent to fill open positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop programs to enhance employee relations and offer employee support to each staff member

  • Manager a team of HR professionals

  • Ensure new hire orientation process properly introduces new employees to the corporate culture

  • Provides monthly reporting to HR leadership on company compensation and benefit offerings in comparison to market and makes recommendations for improvements

  • Develop new ways to measure employee engagement and morale to determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction

  • Coach, educate, consult and advise leaders and employees on HR initiatives

  • Establish HR metrics to provide visibility to leaders on organizational effectiveness

  • Ensure accuracy of employee data through the use of comprehensive audit program

  • Act as liaison between the company and outside legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations

  • Support the talent acquisition process in collaboration with the TA manager

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Excellent team building skills, self-motivated with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of strategic HR strategies to drive business results

  • Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills

  • Must have strong communication skills to include verbal, written and interpersonal

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong relationships, influence others at all levels, and drive change

  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to influence and manage change

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR generalist experience required

VIEW JOBS 9/29/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-28T00:00 This position is based at the corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, PA and reports to the Global Director of Human Resources and will manage day-to-day operations of Human Resources for the various locations were AgroFresh does business. The position serves as first point of contact to client to deliver advice, counsel, and cost effective, integrated solutions to clients and acts as the key point of contact for employees in the broader organization. Partners to implement global HR programs and initiatives across the geography. This role brings value to the organization by working with client groups to understand site needs and leverage HR work products and services to meet those needs. The incumbent must be a credible partner skilled at communicating to various levels of the organization. The HR Manager also coordinates Compensation and Benefits, Mobility, Talent Management and Talent Acquisition to implement daily activities that support the AgroFresh strategy, in compliance with local labor legislation. Primary responsibilities * Provide HR support across one or more location (US and Global) * Partner with client group to understand the longer-term functional & business needs and integrates HR work products and services to meet those needs * Manage all Talent Acquisition/Recruiting, Total Rewards, Performance Reviews and Employee Relations for the North American Region * Understand the HR work process and remove barriers to success; challenge when necessary; ensure process integrity and flexibility to advantage clients * Identify and lead strategic HR issues at the site/country * Collaborate with other HR professionals ensuring seamless HR service and optimal efficiency for the site * Apply employment laws and legislated requirements with respect to human resource management * Ensure successful local implementation and application of HR policies and programs,both local and global * Partner with client group to understand the functional & business needs and integrates HR work products and services to meet those needs * Educate and provide counsel to assigned leadership and employee populations on application of HR solutions, resources, policies and work processes * Support change management processes to influence and shape desired culture * Coordinate responses to information and data requests * Collaborate across HR to ensure seamless client delivery, seeking business and/or functional input and feedback where necessary Supervisory Responsibilities: * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications * A minimum of a Bachelor's Degee plus 5 years of HR experience with demonstrated knowledge of HR practices and solution * Demonstrated knowledge in HR technologies, tools and processes; employment labor policies, laws and legislation * Knowledge of employment laws * Ability to work as a team member to meet clients' needs * Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients through expertise and consultation * Good interpersonal effectiveness skills, including but not limited to conflict resolution, effective two-way communication, and negotiation * Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision * Ability to analyze data and situations, make recommendations and assist with implementation * Facilitation and presentation skills * Knowledge of key work processes within the client's function/business * Knowledge of key talent practices within functions * Proven ability to drive change management * Demonstrated background in project management * Proficient in Microsoft applications, especially Excel * Familiar with HR Information Systems, running reports and other functionality Agrofresh Philadelphia PA
