We're currently looking for an HR Manager - Leave, Disability, Life and Voluntary Programs to join our team in Franklin, TN.

Job Summary

Manages and maintains operational effectiveness and efficiency of various Nissan employee benefit programs including leave, disability life, and voluntary programs. Drive results via management of Benefit Plan Providers and Vendors. Reviews benefit programs to ensure legal requirements are met. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are met and programs are administered compliantly. Recommends benefit revisions and enhancements. Maintains procedures for maintenance of benefit programs and provides operating instructions to administrative support staff.

Job Responsibilities

Ongoing operational management of Nissan Benefits programs including but not limited to… leave, disability, life and voluntary programs.

Leaves of Absence (US and Canada):

  • Manage leave of absence vendor and hold vendors accountable to contract terms/conditions and service level performance requirements, addressing customer issues in a timely manner, and timely reporting of data.

  • Serve as a point of contact for leaves of absence matters and liaison between leave of absence third party administrator, leave of absence consultant, legal counsel and HR Business Partners, addressing and resolving all stakeholder concerns

  • Assess LOA pay benefits and oversee inquiries associated with employees on leave of absence

  • Manage time off and leaves in Workday and ensure data flows accurately to downstream systems

  • Ensure exceptional customer service experience by responding timely and accurately to leave related questions through email, phone and face-to-face interactions

  • Help to review and implement new processes, procedures and plan documents

  • Provide departmental training, which will be customized to meet the specific departmental needs

  • Train management, supervisors and employees on various leave and accommodations issues

  • Ensure compliance with all national, state, or local regulations and laws related to time off, leave, accommodations and worker's compensation program by staying informed about relevant legislation, new regulations, and industry best practice.

  • Serve as internal subject matter expert for questions and escalation related to all types of leaves of absences

Other Benefit Programs:

  • Manage Benefits programs' vendors including holding vendors accountable to contract terms/conditions and service level performance requirements, addressing customer issues in a timely manner, and timely reporting of data.

  • Continually assess and recommend changes to Benefits Plans, Policies and practices to support the company's diverse needs and to ensure that programs are being administered consistently and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

  • Collaborate with other Benefits managers and team members to establish the strategic direction for Benefits programs for Nissan North America and affiliates ensuring consistency with company philosophy, policies and practices.

  • Participate benefit program Requests for Proposals and lead implementation of new vendors and/or new vendor programs.

  • Interpret benefit policies and procedures for the US, Canada, and other affiliates, HR staff, and employees, ensuring consistency and accuracy of administration of programs offered.

  • Assists in the coordination and deployment of communication documents needed to facilitate new benefit programs.

  • Maintain a keen awareness of innovative external "best practices" and partner effectively with internal customers to achieve organizational goals; and cultivate and maintain relationships that ensure the successful resolution of issues and problems within all levels of leadership.

  • Proficient with development, use, and analysis of large data sets and trends to anticipate, solve for, prevent issues - in scope of team, and cross-functionally.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, COBRA, Social Security and DOL requirements

  • Prior experience leading the work of others performing professional analytical, administrative and operational work is also required.

Management Accountabilities:

  • Recruit, develop and lead a professional, proactive and customer-centric Benefits team capable of meeting the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Conduct ongoing "one-on-ones" with Team members, evaluate employee performance and recommend merit increases, transfers and promotions.

  • Counsel and discipline employees as necessary, recommend termination when appropriate, and monitor time and attendance of subordinates.

  • Build a culture of recognition among Team

As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.

Years of Experience:

8+ years of progressive total rewards experience with at least 5+ years of experience designing, administering, and communicating benefit plans.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
