This position is responsible for providing practical, consistent, and proactive Human Resources support and direction on a full range of HR programs and activities in support of the employees and management at Kohl and Frisch. In collaboration with the Director, Human Resources, the primary focus of the position will be on employee relations, leave of absence, disability management and performance management. As a seasoned people leader, you will possess sound decision-making skills and critical-thinking ability in addressing the day-to-day issues and present possible solutions to the business unit for consideration. Major Responsibilities
Works with leadership and various stakeholders to develop and implement Human Resources strategies that are aligned with the organization’s corporate values and business objectives
Participates in the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems
Oversees the implementation of HR programs and identifies opportunities for improvement
Protects the interests of the company and employees in accordance with company policies and provincial law and regulations. Minimizes risk.
Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them. Ensures managers know how to successfully, ethically, honestly, and legally communicate with employees.
Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
Take a lead role in the Performance Management and Review Cycle, Leave of Absence and Disability Management processes
Work in partnership with the HR team to identify and eliminate administrative/manual tasks
Works closely with the Director, Human Resources to ensure compensation practices align with the Kohl & Frisch (K&F) recruitment, selection, and hiring processes
Coach and mentor HR team members
Supports the annual HR budgeting process
Other duties as required
Education and Experience
10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years of talent management
Minimum 5 years in people leadership role
Ability to manage and support National HR issues
Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
Training and facilitation experience an asset
Ability to support and influence all stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills including excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage daily workload, set priorities and meet required deadlines while managing competing demands
Demonstrate ability to handle sensitive and contentious issues with tact and respect
Ability to work both independently and co-operatively as member of a team
A self-starter, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Ontario Pay Equity Act, and other related legislation
Post-secondary diploma/degree in Human Resources Management/CHRP designation
