HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning's Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning's Values visible.

Overview:The purpose of this role is to ready key (experienced) HR Leadership for critical Business Unit HR positions through accelerated and well-defined experiences. The initial assignment is anticipated to range from 9 - 12 months consisting of an onboarding process and 2 - 3 rotational placements within Corning HR's Center of Excellence (COE) groups and Business Unit HR. The individual will develop an understanding of Corning, the Human Resources organization, our core processes, and gain experiences to ready them for key business unit human resources positions within the company. The COE placement(s) could be in Talent Management (i.e. Staffing, OD, Talent Planning), Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations and/or Operations & Analytics. The BUHR placement(s) will be supporting a Business, Plant, and/or R&D Center to provide strategic and operational support to the organization.

Key Responsibilities may include:

Business Unit HR (BUHR)

1.Collaborating with HR Manager/Director/DVP/VP to prioritize current and future talent requirements of the plant / business unit which could adversely affect achievement of annual business objectives

2.Partnering with HR and business management to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables the client to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps

3.Supporting business management in effectively deploying performance management and rewards processes/practices to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers

4.Functioning as the voice of the business customer to HR to ensure that the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of business objectives

5.Educating business management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment through business management and supervisors

6.Resolving employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the needs of the business to operate in an effective and efficient manner

7.Implementing appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure business compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws

COE

1.Implementing change management strategies that ensure successful implementation and ongoing use of COE programs / processes / policies

2.Implementing COE programs / processes / policies in compliance with current legal and regulatory policies and in direct or indirect support of Corning Values and positive work environment objectives

3.Conducting periodic reviews and evaluations of COE programs / processes / policies and external market practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement to better meet corporate, business, function and employee needs

4.Developing and maintaining subject matter experts through independent research and participation in company / professional groups

5.Collaborating with BUHR partners, business leaders, and other COEs to leverage their expertise to expedite integration of business-relevant COE programs/processes/policies/systems

6.Implementing COE projects to cost, quality, delivery, and business impact expectations

7.Educating customers about when and how to properly use COE programs / processes / policies

Preferred Background/Experience:

  • Successful track record of performance as an HR manager or HR Business Partner

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in leading teams and/or projects

  • Successful track record in the development & deployment of global HR business processes or programs

  • Successful track record of continuous process/product improvement

  • Experience (assignment/project participation) in aligning business leadership around organization direction, design, and governance/decision rights

  • Experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve business ability to achieve desired results-product start up, expansion, or mature business optimization

  • Experience supporting multiple client groups across multiple locations

  • Knowledge of US employment laws and policies; Global employment laws and policies - a plus

  • At least 4 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist combined)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related fields

  • Master's degree in related area and/or HR certifications- a plus

  • Six Sigma Green belt/Black belt certification - a plus
