HR Manager - BU

Job Summary:

The HR Manager for our Helical Products Business Unit (BU), will play a key role in ensuring MW Component's people initiatives are executed by creating and managing systems that maintain and grow the technical strength of the workforce and the capabilities of the management team at a business unit level. This role's responsibilities will range from serving as a trusted business partner to the GM and executing tactical delivery, while providing professional HR support. The ability to minimize and streamline administrative work will greatly affect the amount of time available for strategic priorities at a local level. Leading independently and through partnership with BU management will be critical for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works with Division HR lead to develop, improve and administers various human resources plans and procedures for the relevant employee population including personnel policies and procedures

• Leads the development of managers and supervisors in areas of employment law, performance management, and professional development. Provides guidance to supervisors on issues of employee performance, development, or discipline.

• Will have full-cycle recruiting responsibilities for non-exempt and manage staffing firms for temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; The HR Manager must be willing to step in and handle tasks at all levels and provide support to employees in all phases of the employment relationship, i.e. reference checking; job offers; conduct new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews.

• Collaborates with General Management to effectively plan for staffing needs; leads and supports succession and training efforts to support this initiative. Oversees the placement process for new, promoted and/or transferred associates.

• Proactively identifies and addresses performance or morale issues with individuals on the team.

• Owns performance management and talent development process for relevant sites.

• Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

• Represents the organization on employment-related hearings and investigations.

• Manages FMLA, STD, and LTD claims in coordination with MW's external administrators.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have strong employee relations capabilities and the ability to identify and address issues.

• Must have a solid understanding of safety systems and OSHA regulations in order to support local management in their improvement plans.

• Must have the ability to translate strategic plans into supporting human resources approaches, with appropriate tracking metrics.

• Knowledge of state and local laws as it relates to FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, and other applicable regulations is required. Must possess high ethical standards.

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in Human Resource or Business Administration
• 4+ years of human resource experience, must have prior manufacturing experience.
• 2+ years of experience as a manager or lead HR for a site or business unit is preferred.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR credential a plus.
