HR Generalist

Job Summary Details

  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt employees, students, and temporary employees as needed; conducts new-employee orientations.

  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company employees; assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.

  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Administers compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.

  • Implements compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required.

  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing

  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

  • Provides training for new and current employees on department systems and procedures.

  • Supervises receptionist, delegates projects as appropriate, and assures coverage of front desk in receptionist's absence.

  • Oversees special events for staff by coordinating committees and schedules, and staying within budget

  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Work Experience/KSA's

  • Required:

o 0-2 years experience in the field of human resource administration and management

  • experience may include a combination of work experience and education

  • Must be willing to relocate for promotional opportunities (expected within 12-24 months)

  • Preferred:

o 2-4 years experience in the field of human resource administration and management

  • experience may include a combination of work experience and education

Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of employee administration.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.

  • Be self-directed and motivated.

  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint, HRIS and time and attendance systems.

Education

  • Minimum Required:

o Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field

  • Preferred:

o Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field

Certification/License:

  • Required: n/a

  • Preferred: PHR / SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP

Foreign Language

  • Required: None Required

  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish

The HR Generalist provides day-to-day tactical implementation of human resources processes and programs supporting all HR Centers of excellence with a primary focus in the area of Employee Relations. The Senior Generalist also supports the HR Generalist with escalations and project support. Job Tasks: * Provide employee relations advice and council to team members at all levels within the organization. * Support HR Generalist Team with problem solving, escalations and project support. * Provide input and guidance on performance management plans, leveraging company tools and resources and reinforcing best practices. * Guide leaders through Reduction in Force process and lead internal process of completing appropriate analytics, documentation and notification. * Manage exit interview process and reporting for exiting team members. * Manage employee relations reporting and analytics. * Review flagged background checks through an interactive process with the applicant or team member, ultimately determining if an employment decision will be impacted. * Lead and participate on HR projects and deliver training programs that support client groups with retention and culture assimilation. * Monitor compliance with Human Resources policies, procedures and practices and effectively communicates company and governmental rules, regulations, and procedures, and explains need for compliance. * Develop and enhance Policies & Procedures (P&P) and Handbook materials. * Generate detailed reports using Workday HRIS and other relevant HR systems by determining relevant data criteria and formatting for clear interpretation. * Develop and manage communication strategies and delivery instruments. * Data management: Create and maintain various HR documents, databases, and files, including spreadsheets, reports, etc. * Perform quantitative and statistical analysis to assess the cost and impact of various HR related decisions, identifying and recommending solutions to arising problems. * Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to current legislation and various government regulations affecting employment practices.
