As the Human Resources Generalist you will play an important role in the growth of the HR function. You'll report to, and work in collaboration with, the HR Director in order to deliver core HR Services that supports the healthcare provider's mission to provide high quality, affordable health care services to its members and communities.

What We're Looking For:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related field.
Minimum 7 or more years HR experience.
Experience as lead recruiter managing full cycle recruitment and one or more other functional areas of HR, ideally in compensation, employee relations, training and development, or benefits.
Experience with applicant tracking and HRIS systems.
Experience leading projects with organization-wide impact.
Prior experience manipulating large amounts of data, where detailed accuracy is critical.
Expert at Microsoft Word and Excel.

The salary range is $20.00-$24 hourly. Scheduled hours and days for this position are Monday - Friday, approximately 9am-6pm or 8am-5pm Become a part of an exciting and dynamic organization that makes a difference in the lives of homeless and trafficked youth. Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to serve homeless and trafficked youth (18-24) offering safety, hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the position provides support to the Human Resources department and must follow strict confidentiality guidelines. Essential functions include data entry into the Human Resources/Payroll Information System (Paylocity) on a regular basis, finalizing, distributing and mailing correspondence. Helps the department in recruiting related tasks (posting positions, initial review of resumes, coordinating background checks, processing employment applications, new hire orientations for Oakland and YEAH! sites, computer profile setup, etc.), coordinates trainings, helps answer basic HR and benefit related questions as needed. The position is also responsible for providing administrative support to the HR Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Assist with maintaining the HRIS database (Paylocity) and related tasks such as preparation of confidential HR reports, personnel status changes (PSNs) and distributes documents to appropriate departments. * Assists employees and managers with questions related to Paylocity and enrolls all Oakland and YEAH! new hires into Paylocity and updates their information for payroll purposes. Instructs Oakland and YEAH! new hires on how to sign up for Paylocity and how to initially utilize the system for their benefit. * Prepares and distributes various reports for the HR Manager, tracks TB tests and sends correspondence to staff monthly, maintains/updates the employee directory as needed. * Takes the lead with recruiting functions for Oakland and YEAH program open positions: placing internal/external ads for open positions, regularly developing Job-Postings and coordinating the internal/external posting process. Coordinates to ensure job postings on the agency website are current and are consistent with employee requisitions. Maintains employment applications/resumes and coordinates submission and follow up of background checks, employment verifications, completes Offer Letters and new hire packets for the Oakland and YEAH! sites along with other confidential documentation for the department. * Under the supervision of the HR Manager prepares, EDD-UI-Disability/Paid Family Leave and prepares other reports and correspondence as needed or directed (such as but not limited to merit increase memos, job applicant notification letters, non-hire notice and follow-up, etc.) * Ensures all job descriptions for assigned region are current and maintained in the HR job description folder. * Conducts new hire orientations for Oakland and YEAH! sites, assists coordinating HR training sessions in conjunction with the HR Manager, such as Sexual Harassment training and annual CPS training. * Ensures there are ample supplies of new hire orientation packets available for Oakland and YEAH! programs and works with other managers that their respective new staff have office supplies (dependent on the position). * Assists with the coordination of holiday, birthday celebrations and special events as required and as requested by the HR Manager. * Responsible for assisting with ordering and maintaining supplies for the Department and ensuring all forms and documents are in supply for LA, Oakland and YEAH as they are requested. * Works with outsourced IT Service to setup new hires Office 365 accounts on the CHC database, including network drive access, email distribution setup and email/computer access, when applicable. * Will sit in on interviews and employee relations meetings as required (to have two people present) but will not be responsible for running these meetings. * Participates and helps with facilitating terminations for both Oakland and YEAH! Sites. * Other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: BA degree in a related field preferred but will consider equivalent additional experience. PHR or similar certification desirable but not required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of HR experience required, in addition to 2+ years varied administrative experience. Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff members, clients, vendors, and the public. Experience with HRIS systems is preferred, specific experience with Paylocity a huge plus. Must be familiar with basic HR laws for the state of California. SKILLS: Must be highly organized, detailed oriented, and able to produces timely and accurate work without close supervision. Must be able to maintain a big picture perspective while remaining mindful of details. Must be able to navigate ambiguity and be able to apply general guidelines in a fair and consistent manner to a wide variety of differing circumstances. Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and be able to communicate properly and clearly with peers and all staff. Must have excellent computer skills including MS office. TRANSPORTATION: Must have a valid California drivers license, a good driving record and reliable transportation. WORKING CONDITIONS: General business/office environment. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion, bend, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Some weekend/holiday work may be required.
