The primary purpose of the Human Resources Generalist is to provide HR support at the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality to the organization, promote Employee Relations and support Training & Development efforts, Recruiting and Onboarding as well other HR services corporate-wide. The HR Generalist supports management initiatives by assisting in the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures and leading by example.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
Onboarding / Training
Main HR contact for onboarding new hires including coordination of new hire documents, drug tests, background checks, motor vehicle reports and orientation.
Facilitate onboarding process for new hires via onboarding system by gathering weekly list of potential new hires company-wide, send out timely electronic communications complete with onboarding instructions to prospective new hires and follow through with each new hire candidate for successful completion of their online onboarding process.
Coordinate orientation programs based on participants and their positions, update orientation materials as needed and develop orientation agenda by organizing presenters.
Coordinate requests for training, including scheduling Lunch & Learn sessions based on needs of employees.
Assist with developing programs to meet specific training needs per employee/manager request and coordinate any off-site training as needed.
Coordinate internship program by assisting with recruitment efforts, maintaining a list of past interns, and sustaining contact throughout the school year to encourage repeat interns. Administer exit interviews on all interns. Help evaluate companywide internship program with recommendations to management at program completion.
Promote employee engagement through the onboarding, training and relations process and set an example of company culture from the employee's first day.
Leave Administrator provide timely, professional and impartial guidance to managers regarding all requests for leave including under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Military and Other Leave policies; consider all pertinent factors and respond consistently within state and federal guidelines; keep thorough records of timelines and notifications.
Develop working knowledge and understanding of all HR and Payroll systems in order to act as back-up to Employee Records department as needed.
Assist with organizing and reviewing new hire paperwork for accuracy in preparation for entry into various systems.
Process the electronic filing of HR/Payroll/Benefits employee records into the employee's personnel files.
Assist in various special projects for the Employee Records/Benefits Department such as auditing employee data retained within various systems for accuracy and consistency, benefit plan billing reconciliations, monitoring and collecting required responses from newly benefits eligible employees.
Maintain and track all incoming training certifications and sign-in sheets to various systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BS in Human Resources or related degree
5+ years experience in Employee Relations, Recruiting and Onboarding.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills.
