This position will be responsible for the design, development and coordination of engineering talent acquisition, development and retention activities across all of the manufacturing sites. The primary focus will initially be on the North America (NOAM) sites, however there will be an expectation of sharing best practices and success stories with the other regions, actively supporting the other regions when they have initiatives related to their engineering teams.


  • Ownership of the college recruitment for new engineers. This will include:

  • Partnering with the plants to asses needs

  • Partnering with Ops leadership, establish university relationships and coordinate campus activities both at career fairs and at other times throughout the year to help build the Tate & Lyle brand

  • Managing the onsite interview process

  • Design, develop and provide central coordination for internship and co-op programs across the plant network

  • Manage the recruitment strategy for mid-career engineer recruitment:

  • Establish a relationship with D&I engineering associations (SWE, SBE, etc.), develop and manage a plan to actively recruit through these organizations

  • Partner with local HR Managers on sourcing strategy for open engineering and continuous improvement positions

  • Review plant level succession plans for any Band C or above openings on the engineering ladder and recommend to respective HR Partner those who should be considered for the open position

  • Responsible for compensation review of the engineering team, including:

  • Researching and establishing the annual new graduate rate for college recruitment

  • Monitor our salary ranges for the levels of the ladders against updated market data annually

  • Annually review all Band B engineers for salary compression issues

  • Partner with Global Operations (GO) HR Team on retention initiatives including:

  • Reviews of Individual development plans to ensure alignment to succession plans

  • Establish and launch formal mentor and buddy programs

  • Consolidation of engagement action plans for engineering teams across sites to share best practices and success stories and track progress against plans

  • Support the annual succession planning process

  • Recommend and monitor stay interviews where needed

  • Track turnover, exit interview data for the engineering team and report back to the GO HR team on a quarterly basis on themes and potential interventions

  • Support the engineering counsel along with the NOAM HR Director and Operations leadership


  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resource function required

  • Experience in organizational development, managing recruitment and/or retention programs preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field


  • This role can be based in Hoffman Estates, IL (preferred) or Decatur, IL
