Role Overview:

The HR Generalist will be responsible for recruitment efforts, new hire orientation and onboarding, employee termination, payroll and benefits, company policy and procedure adherence. In addition, this position will work with our Senior HR Manager to build strong relationships with the company's managers in order to help them with their human resource needs.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Program Execution

  • Assist in executing company-wide programs and initiatives including workforce planning, performance management, training and development and organizational change.

  • Provides input to human resources management team in developing, interpreting and recommending HR program goals and objectives, policies, procedures and courses of action.

HR Administration

  • Serves as the first point of contact for responding to general employee questions at site regarding policies, procedures, benefits, forms, etc.

  • Prepares and updates FAQ lists.

  • Maintains hard copy and electronic files for all types of files including regular employees, international employees, temporary employees, workers compensation, leaves of absence, etc.

  • Conducts onboarding and New Hire Orientation process (background checks, e-Verify, I-9 verification) at site.

  • Processes voluntary and involuntary terminations, conducts exit interviews, responds to EEOC and state unemployment charges and claims and compiles statistical reports and information for the site.

  • Inputs relevant employee data into HR systems (ADP and IFS)

Business Partnership and Strategy

  • With the assistance of the regional team, develop a thorough understanding of the goals and objectives of client group(s) and ensures alignment of HR strategies and programs to the broader organizational goals.

  • Executes workforce planning after receiving appropriate approvals (hiring, terminations, promotions, etc.)

Employee Relations

  • Assist in providing coaching on employee engagement, rewards and recognition, progressive discipline and HR best practices; working with the HR team, identify strategies and tactics to increase employee and management effectiveness, performance and satisfaction.

  • Consults with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources issues and works to mediate and resolve conflicts.

  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues through a systematic approach.

  • Assist in investigating formal employee complaints and recommends the company's response to the employee. Works with Legal to ensure that we minimize exposure to liability.

Performance Management

  • In assistance with regional team, works with managers to address performance issues, using an appropriate corrective action methodology, and follows up on resolution/improvement.

  • Guide local managers through the annual performance appraisal process, reviews all draft performance appraisals and provides feedback and recommended revisions to managers. Calibrates performance rating system between managers and client groups to achieve rating consistency throughout the company.

Recruitment

  • Supports staffing efforts with Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist by guiding managers to provide input to the annual staffing plan

  • Responsible for drafting offers, onboarding, and new hire orientation

Compliance

  • Ensures that business leaders are making decisions and taking actions that are in accordance with company policy and legal local, state, and federal requirements. Contributes to preparation of data for HR federal and local reporting and compliance activities in the US (e.g., OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, EEO-1, Vets 100, etc.).

  • Ensures all up-to-date legal postings are placed in a designated area within established timeframes.

Benefits Administration

  • Partners with co-workers on annual benefits enrollment process

  • Partners with co-workers on claims resolution issues

Projects

  • Participates in divisional projects for the region, manages social media for the site, and assists with other HR-related duties as assigned

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Undergraduate degree in HR or business-related discipline, or completion of Human Resources Certification program and equivalent work experience

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant HR experience, to include analytics, special projects and social media experience

  • Previous experience supporting manufacturing highly desirable

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, written and oral highly desirable

  • Strong business judgement and strategic orientation, particularly in linking HR with business strategies and goals

  • Strong organizational development and consultative skills

  • Experienced usage of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and e-Time strongly preferred

  • Outstanding verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Organized and show great initiative

  • Works with little guidance or supervision
