Job Details

General Summary

Recruits non-exempt/exempt employees Private Fleet. Assists Fleet Management team in implementation of company policies and procedures.

Responds in a timely manner to employee issues and concerns by conducting the proper follow-up. Assists in employee engagement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Plans and coordinates recruitment of private fleet team member, including truck drivers, fleet management and hourly support applicants. Develops and recommends recruiting strategies.

Selects applicants for interviews and provides support for management performing the steps of the interviewing and job offer processes as well as the automated on-boarding process. Manages internal job posting process and documentation. Monitors applicants through the hiring process (i.e., reference checks, pre-employment drug screenings, etc).

Coordinates and conducts positive contact program for new hires. Promotes open door policy and an environment free of organized labor through effective positive employee relations.

Plans, manages, and tracks employee recognition programs. Coordinate employee engagement activities, including employee events and all activities corresponding to the employee opinion survey results and action planning

Conducts investigations, prepares investigative reports and makes recommendations to resolve employee issues based on policy, past practice and legal justifications. Assists supervisors to formulate disciplinary actions. Conducts exit interviews and make recommendations based on trends or notable comments for advising management for improvement

Ensures thorough understanding of company policies by conducting new employee orientations and follow-up sessions; assist fleet management team with follow up questions related to company policies and procedures.

Manage all administrative processes, including reporting related to FMLA maintenance and time management process. Staffing/turnover reporting to include tracking of offer letters, new hire process flow and scheduled orientation dates.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough knowledge of human resource principles and practices.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of company policies.

Computer skills: Word, Excel, and payroll/personnel systems such as Lawson and time and attendance systems.

Work Experience / Education

  • Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through post-secondary education at the bachelor's level in areas such as human resources management and industrial psychology.

  • Two to five years of experience in progressively responsible positions; degree is not required with extensive experience

Working Conditions

  • Effective balance of floor time and office time is required.

  • Travel expectation required for supporting other fleet locations and/or fleet start-up initiatives.

Provides strategic and tactical consultation in areas related to recruiting, employee relations, talent assessment, retention initiatives, and training. Leads full life-cycle recruitment efforts for DG Fleet Drivers focused on executing all aspects of the recruitment process including creating and executing sourcing strategies and leading the team of Fleet HR Representatives toward execution of human capital metrics. * Ensure the execution and implementation of the overall strategy and vision for staffing, recruiting, internal development, performance management, and employee engagement * Partner with Transportation to develop a best-in-class driver candidate experience while proposing process improvements that leverages the technology and support to scale for growth and build candidate relationships with the company * Responsible for all human resources responsibilities of direct and indirect reports (coaching, training, appraising, etc….) * Anticipate talent needs within each market and maintain a knowledge base that supplies the talent needs of the business model * Responsible for the budget and execution of recruitment and retention strategies that promote engagement, delivers workforce stability and achieves retention goals Qualifications * Experience conducting full life cycle recruiting across multiple locations * Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws * Ability to mediate between employees during conflict resolution * Ability to achieve measurable results through collaboration and influence * Exceptional planning, coordination, project management and implementation skills * Advanced ability to communicate with employees at all levels (both verbal and written communication skills) * Strong presentation skills * Extensive knowledge of employee relations practices and investigation skills for employee relations cases * BS/BA in Business Administration, Human Resources or applicable training in these areas with another degree; equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree. * Minimum of 7-10 years of experience with at least 2 years of recruiting; equivalent and applicable experience in initiating the business planning may be substituted for 7-10 years of experience * Work is conducted in a remote office setting * Up to 50% travel required on a national scope to sites and partnership locations * Work conducted while traveling is in an office setting with exposure to tractor/trailer yard _ #CC #SSC Dollar General Corporation Goodlettsville TN
