Job Title: HR Generalist

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Director, Human Resources

Location: Twinsburg, OH

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for managing the administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following areas: employee relations, recruitment, training and development, compensation, organizational development and employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the development and administration of programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.

  • Maintain employee-related databases. Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and the company. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.

  • Manages the recruitment process for exempt and nonexempt employees using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.

  • Conducts the recruiting planning meetings when staffing needs are identified.

  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.

  • Helps to monitor the organizations culture so that it supports the attainment of the companys goals and promotes employee satisfaction.

  • Conduct new employee orientations and exit interviews.

  • Conduct job analysis and develop job descriptions for all job levels within the organization.

  • Consult with the leadership team, managers and hourly personnel to enhance employee performance, improving leadership skills, and implementing HR related processes/procedures.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Support the Director of Human Resources in employee training, development, and performance management.

  • Participate in employee investigations and ensure appropriate outcomes and follow-up.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks, and visiting bench-marking organizations. Support and lead individual and organizational continuous learning culture and process

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by manager.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain the utmost confidentiality.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Regular attendance is expected and required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related major is required; an MBA is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of HR generalist experience

  • Must be a hands on professional with proven experience in employee relations, leadership development, training, performance management, compliance, communications, staffing, compensation and benefit administration.

  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work; good time management skills; and multi-tasking abilities.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships at the executive and working levels of internal and external organizations; ability to gain and maintain the cooperation and participation of others.

  • Advocate for organizational change and promotion of diversity within the organization.

  • Team player with integrity, trust, credibility and consensus builder.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS

  • Either a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be adaptable and have the flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have the ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
