The Authority is seeking a highly motivated HR Generalist.
SUMMARY: The HR Generalist will work within the Authoritys People and Talent area, supporting Employee Relations (ER), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) & Compliance functions. The HR Generalist will resolve day-to-day employee relations complaints and concerns, including meeting with stakeholders across the Authority, developing action plans, and implementing solutions which are consistent with approved policies and procedures. The position will also be responsible for leading internal investigations covering ER and EEO matters including, workplace misconduct, harassment, discrimination, hotline calls, and violations of internal policies and procedures.

I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participates in activities aimed at assuring implementation and compliance with regulatory and Authority requirements, policies and procedures such as Drug Free Workplace, FMLA, ADA, Employee Orientation Training, etc., by providing high-level substantive support to the Labor Relations and Compliance Team, to include investigations, researching, gathering, and documenting information.
Provides support in administering the Authoritys Drug and Alcohol Testing, occupational health and fitness for duty, Employee Assistance Programs, Workers Compensation, and unemployment programs.
Provides guidance to managers/supervisors in addressing employee relations issues, policy administration, coaching and counseling, appropriate corrective actions, and developing and implementing performance improvement plans (PIP).
Tracks and reports union and non-union employee disciplinary actions, grievances, arbitrations, EEO complaints, and compiles department metrics for monthly reports.
Participates in trainings and complex HR projects across the Authority while interacting with employees at all levels.
Assists in developing, revising, and implementing HR policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.
Key Working Relationships: Interacts with employees throughout DC Water, and representatives of external regulatory agencies.
II. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE & OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
The minimum qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable amounts of training are provided.
Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of progressive experience in human resources, to include at least two (2) years of experience involving labor and/or employee relations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess considerable experience knowledge working with confidentially sensitive employee information.
Must possess a general familiarity with current labor laws and employment issues.
Must be capable in working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks, and possess excellent organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Uses personal computer and maintains a working knowledge of applicable software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, email, PowerPoint, etc.).
