Summary:
The job of HR-EMPLOYMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST is done for the purpose of providing clerical and employment support for the Department of Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Human Resources staff for the purpose of processing and filing records. Manages employment services and application processes for the purpose of providing necessary information to be used in the selection process;

  • Provides information and materials (e.g. applicant information, testing data, selection materials) for the purpose of assisting administrators in recruitment and selection and ensuring compliance with district, state and federal regulations related to employment services;

  • Facilitates the district's employment recruitment program (e.g. schedules career fair activities, schedules recruitment coordinator) for the purpose of recruiting qualified candidates and ensuring an adequate and effective work force;

  • Maintains records (e.g. applicant files, forms used in the selection process, recruitment records and materials, selection documents and job file data) for the purpose of providing current information, accurate records, efficient responses and meeting legal standards;

  • Processes student teaching requests for the purpose of establishing student teacher assignments and enhancing the recruitment program;

  • Responds to employee and public requests for job template and posting-related information for the purpose of providing accurate information and documentation;

  • Facilitates all district testing (e.g General Knowledge, 10-Key, Keyboarding, and ParaPro Exams);

  • Supports the Substitute Specialist for the purpose of onboarding and recruiting substitute candidates;

  • Operates and maintains the primary Human Resources District e-mail account for the purpose of responding to all employment and testing inquiries in a timely matter;

  • Updates all employment related forms for the Human Resources office using Adobe Acrobat and uploads to the District website;

  • Supports Human Resources administrators for the purpose of ensuring smooth operation of the department and assisting with administrative functions;

  • Attends meetings and trainings for the purpose of updating skills and providing information, as directed;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

The environmental factors described here are representative of those that may be present in the work place while the employee performs the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 10% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard free environment, and in a clean atmosphere.

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent;

  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office preferred;

  • Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required;

  • Expertise to perform single technical tasks;

  • Targeted job-related education that meets the District's prerequisite requirements.

Required Testing:

  • District General Knowledge Test (To register, email skjobs@skschools.org requesting to complete the district skills test AFTER your application has been submitted);
  • District Keyboarding Test at 40 words per minute (To register, email skjobs@skschools.org requesting to complete the district skills test AFTER your application has been submitted).

Clearances:

  • Washington State Patrol and FBI Fingerprint Background Clearance.

Certificates:

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License required (must be able to fulfill all traveling requirements of this position, including possessing and maintaining a valid license and automobile insurance, when using a personal vehicle for District business).
