As a Human Resources Director, you'll be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing human resources strategies and programs for our
Equipment and Service business at STERIS. This is a global team of more than 650 employees working in professional, sales, engineering and equipment technician roles in the capital equipment design, sales and service functions of our Life Sciences business. This position is an integral part of the business and collaborates with all assigned business departments and corporate management in the development and implementation of HR and business programs and practices.
In the US, manages labor relations at our unionized facility, including being the focal point for collective bargaining preparation and execution and building a constructive union/management relationship. Uses the techniques of positive employee relations to maintain union-free status among our professional technician organization.
Partners with global business leaders and their regional HR peers to drive the business' strategic talent, attraction and retention, employee relations and compensation processes, ensuring they are executed to plan and in the spirit of our employee engagement objectives.
Manages two direct reports to deliver a broad range of employee relations services. This includes collaborating with other departments to ensure leave management, payroll, relocations and other corporate processes are delivered in an accurate, efficient and employee-centered manner.
Partners with central recruiting team to drive continuous improvement in recruiting processes and among the skill-sets of our hiring leaders.
Leads the Talent Assessment (succession and individual development planning) function for the businesses, including driving the execution of action plans.
Consult/coach managers as they handle performance issues and talent development needs. Directly handle employee relationsissues, conduct investigations and recommend solutions.
Is a catalyst for change, championing, along with business leaders, our diverse range of improvement initiatives in both business and HR-based processes. Examples include Lean operations, performance management, talent development, and employee engagement. Leads the human resources process for acquisition due diligence and integration, and as required, following our established standard work.
The successful candidate will have a passion for talent development including performance management, succession planning and workforce planning, along with having the ability to readily flex between strategic and tactical processes.
Role will be primarily home based, with an expectation that the incumbent work 1-2 days a week from the Bethlehem, PA office and travel domestically approximately 15% of the time, and internationally one to two times a year.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in a Human Resources Management role providing direct support to the head of a business unit.Global experience is highly desirable.
Bachelor's degree in either Human Resources or a business related field required; an MBA or Masters in Labor Relations is strongly preferred.
Strong HR leadership and technical skills, with demonstrated business partnership experience in supporting integrations, growth, and business development.
Demonstrated success translating business strategies into organizational and HR strategies and actions.
Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands-on exposure to the full mix of HR functions (preferably in a global environment).
Experience working across a complex organizational matrix.
A track record of positive results creatingprograms/policies that have contributed to the growth and bottom line profitability while enhancing or driving cultural change.
Viewed as someone who is sought out for their opinion and advice and who can forge and maintain close relationships across all constituencies;maintains strict confidentiality.
Effective negotiating and influencing skills.
Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
