How you will make an impact?

This role is integral to our dedication to advance and accelerate diversity and inclusion (D&I) within our workplace, and specifically within the Corporate functions. Working within the robust matrix the HR Director

  • D&I, will ensure our workplace is representative of the communities and customers we serve and that the environment is inclusive for all. The incumbent will lead through influence to drive cultural and behavior change and advance our inclusive work environment. This role requires skills in change management and working effectively at all levels of the organization. The HR Director

  • D&I will be the specialist who works collaboratively with the D&I Center of Excellence (CoE) and HR business partners supporting the functions. Working with business leadership and HR, she/he will assess, determine and implement detailed actions that yield measurable progress in specific workstreams, including but not limited to: recruiting and placement, ERG maximization, targeted development plans, retention, management cultural accountability, etc. This leader will also have responsibility to drive inclusion systematically across the functions.

  • Apply a practical HR lens to develop and deliver a D&I roadmap that aligns with the CoE's strategic plan and positively and measurably improves the work environment, team, and colleague experience within the Corporate functions.

  • Energize and engage cross-functional and matrixed teams to achieve our vision, demonstrating a high-level of emotional intelligence, openness to change, and willingness to merge ideas into favorable and practical solutions.

  • Deliver a comprehensive plan for key priorities and interventions including improving diversity representation within the leadership pipeline and delivering inclusion campaigns that deliver measurable progress on our D&I efforts.

  • Collaborate with executive leaders and relevant HR partners to identify and minimize the impact of potential systematic barriers and improve enablers of diversity.

  • Work in partnership with the communications lead to ensure the communications of key messages and achievements.

  • Drive cultural change that cultivates belonging and supports Thermo Fisher Scientific's ability to attract and retain outstanding diverse talent.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, to include experience in D&I program management at a global organization

  • Extensive experience delivering inclusion, diversity and/or complex HR projects, to include leading change, and a passion for the D&I space

  • Ability to develop, analyze, and interpret data to drive systematic improvements

  • Critical thinking capabilities and broad knowledge of favorable diversity practices

  • Solid understanding of talent process and succession practices

  • Demonstrable track record of interacting and influencing multiple levels of leadership both internally and externally

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; self-directed with a focus on execution and driving results

  • Strong communication (written and verbal); ability to collaborate/present/facilitate discussions across various teams

  • Ability to travel as required for appropriate key meetings and forums (around 10% of the time)

VIEW JOBS 5/20/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-08-18T00:00 You will be based in any North America office as an integral part of the All In, Diversity & Inclusion team, serving as a core member of the global leadership team and reporting to the global director of diversity, equity & inclusion. You will lead a team of dedicated diversity, equity & inclusion communications colleagues to develop and execute an employee engagement strategy to build community, instill pride and amplify our progress inside the firm as well as overseeing our reputation on diversity issues externally, ensuring the continuation of our leadership in the broader diversity, equity & inclusion conversation. You will collaborate closely with firm communication colleagues including internal communications, external relations, media relations, reputation risk and publishing. Functionally, you will be a member of the global communications and reputation team, working closely with the global director of communications for McKinsey. You will also work closely with regional All In, Diversity & Inclusion teams and partner leaders, affinity group leaders and peers in other firm functions (e.g. people, recruiting, learning). You will lead a team of three colleagues to develop and execute the global diversity, equity & inclusion communications and employee engagement strategy for the firm, both internally and externally. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing a compelling overall narrative that inspires continued confidence and momentum in the firm's diversity, equity & inclusion transformation while building credibility and confidence in our work among key external audiences.You will anticipate opportunities to continue to seamlessly bring along our internal communities using the full range of McKinsey communication resources and channels, tailoring messages and approaches to different audiences within the firm. You will assess if opportunities/content are consistent with diversity, equity & inclusion communications goals, bring creative thinking to cut through the noise of typical broadcast channels and consider more narrowcast opportunities, and use data and metrics to modify communication messaging and approaches as needed. You will champion innovative and effective global external reputation efforts through storytelling, thought leadership, media, awards and high profile events. You will also lead efforts to mitigate external risk and will stay abreast of how diversity, equity & inclusion is communicated by our peers to ensure our messaging is compelling and part of a larger dialogue. * University degree ideally in communications, journalism or other relevant field; advanced degree preferred * 15+ years of experience in strategic communications with strong focus on internal communications; diversity, equity and inclusion experience within communications is preferred * Experience working within corporations, communications agency or professional services preferred * Effective use of external agencies, writers, designers, videographers is highly preferred * Proven track record of "making things happen" * Excellent problem-solving and project management skills; ability to navigate a complex organization effectively to drive high-impact initiatives * Ability to build trust-based relationships with (senior) partner leaders and functional leaders * Superior people leadership and people development skills; ability to attract, develop and retain key talent and lead others through complex challenges Mckinsey Waltham MA
