University Human Resources and the College of Education HR teams are seeking a self-motivated and collaborative professional to serve as an HR Coordinator. This position will provide human resource services to multiple departments across several orgs. Human resource services include but are not limited to transaction processing, compliance monitoring, and record keeping.
This is a part-time, 50% position, effort will be split equally between the College of Education and University Human Resources, with 10 hours/ week effort in each area. Location and schedule to be determined.
HR Program Administration & Operations
Initiate HR Transactions including appointments, leave of absence, change of status, special compensation, terminations, etc.
Ensure approved processes are followed; resolve problems using prescribed remedies; explain routine operations/processes to staff; produce reports and collaborate with departmental administrators on explanation of reports
Respond to questions from employees, supervisors and others that require independent judgement. Areas include, but are not limited to, policy interpretation, payroll, benefits, and employee time records. Refer to additional resources when necessary
Collaborate with University Workforce Operations on transaction and compliance policies and procedures
Talent Management & Engagement
Support recruitment activities, including conducting credential, criminal background and reference checks
May assist supervisors with recommending job classification and staffing strategy
Collaborate and participate as needed with scheduling interviews, conducting references, verifying credentials, and preparing offer letters
Provide support to departments related to organizational culture and engagement
Support departments in recruiting and hiring of students, temporary, and postdoctoral positions
Advising/Communication
Advise employees and managers on human resource regulations, practices, policies, and procedures; make decisions and resolve issues within established guidelines or direct to the appropriate resource. Escalate the issue to supervisor when appropriate
Support and communicate various HR initiatives as appropriate
Answer questions and assist end users in system access and functioning of HR applications such as Self Service, Performance Management system, Compliance & Qualifications system, and OTAC applicant system
May assist in creating training materials and presentations and deliver presentations to groups of various sizes
Create routine communications for departments, including offer letters and furlough notices
Compliance with Policies, Laws & Regulations
Review and run standardized reports; make recommendations and updates as necessary
Initiate and review HR compliance reports and collaborate with departments to resolve issues
Monitor compliance with University policies and employment regulation
Gather information regarding compliance activities or issues
Manage compliance for all new employees, such as immigration and I-9 documentation
Monitor and track required training for employees
May advise faculty and staff on submitting FSDS consult form and consult on specific leave needs. Monitor leave coding.
Strategic Planning
Provide support and assistance with implementation of HR practices, policies, and initiatives.
Assist with promoting, advocating, and communicating changes within assigned units
Provide feedback and recommendations to Senior HR Director regarding HR operations and initiatives
Participate in and attend meetings such as the HR Community meeting (monthly), College of Education Administrative group meeting (monthly), and other meetings as requested.

Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Minimum experience is typically one-year relevant work experience.
Basic understanding of state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service for all employee populations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Commitment to and ability to foster diversity, equity and inclusion in the work or academic environment.
Desirable Qualifications
PHR or SHRM-CP certification and/or a commitment to the HR field through training and development.
Prior experience in an academic or higher education setting.
