About Our Career Opportunity
Summit Medical Group's Corporate Office is seeking a Human Resources Compliance Specialist to assist the HR Director with the planning and administration of all HR Compliance aspects of the corporate human resource function, including employee relations and employee engagement guidance, unemployment claims, workers compensation, obligations under ADAAA, administering PPACA measurement period process, planning and implementation of company policies, routine review and update of employee manual, determining appropriate exemption status for all jobs, ensuring adherence to all state and federal employment laws, and other related departmental objectives. This is a Full time opportunity, working Monday-Friday with the opportunity to work remote on a rotating schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (List does not include all duties assigned)
Assists in the management and implementation of the overall objectives for assigned functions in the Human Resource Department
Answers, screens, and fields questions on behalf of the department.
Handles daily operations and strategic planning of programs and processes involving Workers' Compensation and Unemployment cases.
Processes all ADA accommodation requests documenting received medical information and interactive process to determine reasonableness in coordination with manager, HR Director and FMLA vendor, if applicable.
Performs annual review and necessary legal updates when applicable of company policies in employee manual.
Regularly reviews and provides updates to department regarding HR Compliance Laws.
Regularly reviews, updates, and drafts job descriptions and determination of exemption status for all jobs.
Investigates and documents employee complaints and assists with investigating any THRC/EEOC complaints received.
Provides management guidance on employee engagement, including appropriate steps in disciplining employees, addressing performance issues, and terminations.
Ensures all locations meet applicable labor law disclosure and posting requirements.
Performs new hire and ongoing measurement at appropriate intervals of all employee hours according to PPACA guidelines for determining full-time status and our defined process reporting back any status change to impacted employee, manager, appropriate HR Coordinator, and HR Director.
Gathers data pertaining to staffing, labor, and other HR trends within the organization, compares to meaningful benchmarks, generates reports in various and meaningful formats, and, when appropriate, presents information to Administration, Committees or other governing boards.
Provides assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to co-workers.
Assists Director in preparing reports to committees, physicians, and internal executives.
Develops and conducts certain training sessions/meetings (e.g., Site Manager Orientation, New Hire Orientation, Emergency Action Training) and participates in other meetings and committee projects, as appropriate.
Responsible for driving HR metrics in assigned role.
Reviews and responds to departmental mail, as appropriate.
Assists (when necessary) with other HR departmental functions, to potentially include payroll data processing, filing, and other clerical duties.
Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
Adheres to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan.
Performs related work as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: At least three years of experience in a position related to Human Resources preferred.
Certification/License: PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
